I was on the Juwan Howard train but the closer to the season we get the more nervous I’ve become that we have made a huge mistake with him. He hasn’t been coaching very long, and has never coached in college. Holy shit this was risky hire. And I hate the “Michigan Man” bullshit.

Considering who the other realistic options were, I'd say Juwan is the best they could have done. I would rather take a risk like this than hire Ed Cooley or some other average known commodity.

And, seeing that you're not even going to give Coach Howard a chance to actually coach a season or two before turning on him, maybe you'd be best to find another team to root for, how about I suggest the Wildcats of Northern Michigan.

Juwan Howard was as good an option as anyone available given the timing. Though I personally would have promoted Yaklich, I can't say that hiring Juwan was a bad decision. And I like that he hired Phil Martelli as his top assistant; that might have been the best assistant coaching hire of any program this offseason.
JH has us in the hunt for several prospects of the caliber that rarely, if ever, included Michigan on their shortlists under Beilein. I'm obviously sad to see Beilein go, but his departure hasn't dampened my enthusiasm or optimism for Michigan Basketball. We gon' be alright.

Juwan will be fine. They have the talent to win 20 games and make the tournament. A good draw and hot shooting and they make the Sweet 16. His first full class will be impressive.
