CPT Morgan and probably some Molson beer. West Coast and the game starts at 330.... Crazy stuff! I just moved up here and it's so strange. It's nice though waking up on Saturdays to football immediately being on. I'm down for that. Haha.

One of the few good things about Cali. Start drinking at 8am and football is on by 9am

Spent 5.5 years in the East Bay. Golfing year round is the other good thing I can say about Cali. Glad to get home to MI 8 years ago. Haven't made it out to WA yet. Cheers!

I went down to San Diego last year and really enjoyed the bar scene there. Didn't get to golf, unfortunately! I can't wait to play the links up here. Cheers man!

I'm really not a guy that would want to live in a big city. I'm an outdoors country type, but I don't think I'd mind living there if I had to.

I was stationed at Ft. Lewis for 3.5 years. Washington is a great place! Probably the only place I would move to from Michigan.
February 7th, 2016 at 3:39 PM ^
My wife and I are at Lewis right now! I love it already. Just a beautiful area! Northern Michigan and Montana to Washington are the most beautiful places I've been. On top of that the great beer up here is awesome.

I was a big fan of Bruski's wings in Dupont and The Rock wood fired pizza.
I also once had a "hot dog in a cloud" or a Seattle style hot dog from a street vendor in Olympia, but you can get them at many different places. They sound weird but are crazy good.

Make sure to take advantage of the great nature while you are there. I miss it so much.

Thanks I appreciate it! Will certainly try those out. We are gonna try and go snowboarding soon. The Cascades just got a bunch of snow. Can't wait to get outdoors here. How long ago were you here?

3.5 years, but one of those were spent in Afghanistan, so 2.5.
Try and get down to Oregon and up to Vancouver too if you can.

Most of my life I have watched the Super Bowl with old family friends from Minnesota whose house is a museum of Twins memorabilia. They have an antique Coke machine and bubble hockey and phonograph records with Ted Williams interviews. Great venue for a sporting event.
But this year will be my first time at a bar for the Super Bowl. Q's on Wilshire in West LA -- it's the Michigan bar. Had to watch the MSU game there but also got to see the Minnesota goal line stand. And Rutgers, but there's no reason to remember that.
I will probably drink water and eat some Quest Bars from my pocket

into the smoker.... should be done in three to four hours..

The last 12 years or so, we've hosted a "Chili Bowl" party. Have three different chilis on the stove now, expecting at least 3-4 more from guests.
February 7th, 2016 at 2:56 PM ^
If I ate 7(!) kinds of chili on top of all of the beer that gets consumed on the day of the Super Bowl I'd be living in the bathroom the next day. Hope you and your iron stomach enjoy the Super Bowl.
February 7th, 2016 at 3:01 PM ^
we do "souper bowl" parties. everyone brings a soup and I'm putting out some smoked bacon wrapped jalapenos and skirt steak skewers this year. The soups go over really well and I've come across 3-4 truly excellent soups in the 10 or so years we've been doing it. the best being a creamy Reuben soup with chunks of corned beef and sauerkraut...amazing.

Any chance of getting the rueben soup recipe? Sounds delish.

Juicing some kale, chard, beets, apples, and spinach to start. Bought 15lbs of prime rib caps from Costco to feed my wife's cunty friends later. I have a few 6'ers of Oberon, (78 and sunny in Newport Beach today), with swill Chardonnay and blue moon for the guests.

Odd choice of a word there for your wife's friends, but I guess you had your reasons.
February 7th, 2016 at 3:00 PM ^
You're probably right. Most of them are twats, not cunty. They are useless, disgusting women but so good looking. Only one of them is interesting. Will be fun to have them all here for about 10 minutes before I want to check out.

What makes them disgusting? Snobby? Self-centered?
I will say this: excellent use of the word twat. It's not used enough.

Smoking a cheesecake with cherry wood right now so it can rest and chill until after dinner. Then will switch wood over to mesquite and load up the smoker with a couple turkey breasts that are currently brining, some sausages, and quartered pears topped with Gouda and wrapped in bacon. Finally, will be sous vide-ing some ribeyes to then quickly seat and round out the meats. Sides are simple with some mashed potatoes and creamed corn. Next to the 4th of July, this is my favorite cookout (and this year will probably be even better because it's 70 and sunny down here today, and by July it'll be in the 100s).
February 7th, 2016 at 5:20 PM ^
