Suh named Heisman finalist!
It was just announced on ESPN. This guy deserves the invite. Maybe he can shock the World and win it. Besides Woodson I don't remember seeing another defensive player being invited to the ceremonies.
EDIT: The other finalists are Toby Gerhart, Mark Ingram, Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow.

The only other defensive player I can remember who was invited to the Downtown Athletic Club was Steve Etman of Washington.
Suh was most certainly a force, but he plays on a 4 loss team. Not saying its right, but that plus defense equals no love from Heisman voters.
Give it to Gerhardt. He had a monster season and hit up one of the classic Heisman criteria....played huge against ND on national TV in prime time.

I truly do not think that the teams record should be any kind of factor in the voting. it should go to the most outstanding player in the country not the best player on the best team (which seems to be happening more and more).

BUT: Two of Nebraska's losses were by one point (16-15) AT VaTech, and by a score of 9-7 against Iowa State. In both games, Suh was of course dominant.
Beyond his athletic talent, he is extremely intelligent. He doesn't always bullrush the QB--he recognizes pass plays, screens, and knows when to back off the rush occassionaly to bat down passes or even grab the occassional interception.
And talk about a guy who quite often faces double teams, as most great defensive tackles do.
He's the best player in the country and had to do it on a team whose offensive ineptitude rivals 2008 Michigan.
