Start of Bowl Season Open Thread/New Mexico/Potato/New Orleans Bowl

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

We'll see how it goes. If there's a lot of interest, or a lot of other posts shoving it down the front page, we can do one for each bowl.  If it's a slow day, this can take care of all 3 bowl games today.  It's not like it's the Rose Bowl or anything today.  Though I am anxious to see the offense of Temple. I hear their OC is pretty good.  And SDS later should look familiar.  Ohio/Utah ST? Yeah, I got nothing.  But that doesn't have to matter in these threads.  It's for the fun, the love of college football. And werid JHackney pictures.  So come one, come all, come Blue Dragon, and let's enjoy the cheesy greatness/awfulness of the bowl season.

Edit: We've had 3 new threads since kickoff, and 10 still below it on the front page. I'm not bumping stuff for a new thread for each of these bowls. Someone might on New Year's Day or something.  If a mod wants separate threads for these, be my guest, just seems a waste of space. If something groundbreaking happens that bumps this off the front page, we probably won't care about the bowls anymore anyway.

First game going well..I gave the points.  We'll see about Utah State and SDS later.

You'll be 3-0 on the day along with 30,000 other people. Some people apparently had the strategy of putting the mid-major games as the highest confidence, which I was going to do but I didn't save my bracket. I had Temple as 11 and Ohio as 17. SDSU as 10. Hopefully the SDSU O-line decides to actually play and then they'll dominate.

First they gave up two touchdowns in the last 2:12 to lose to the defending national champions, then in week 3 they gave up a tying TD and 2-pt conversion in the last minute of regulation and lost in OT, then in week 4 BYU went 96 yards in the last three minutes to beat them. And then this today. They were ahead at the beginning of the 4th quarter in every one of their six losses.

They came from way behind in two of their wins and won a third on a last minute TD, though, so I guess it could have been worse....

Who would have thought a kid from a no-name school could nail a 50 yarder to win the game and we can't even make a 40 yarder regularly

I haven't been able to find anywhere on the internet a 5 yard penalty of anything sounding remotely like "illegal skimming"... I have no clue what happened.

EDIT: The penalty came because one of the SDSU D-linemen was calling out the snap count illegally. Terrible way to lose a game.
