Sorry, I lied, 1 more: Chicago folks interested in Newport Bar?
I am heading to Newport Bar & Grill (1344 W. Newport) around half-time of the early games. would love to meet some fellow local die hards and mgobloggers if anyone is interested. i'll grab a table if people want to join.

EDIT: i'm 30, for whatever that is worth, and have come to internalize a lot of joy & angst during games, thus avoiding duffy's.

I'll be at the library bar in Laramie Wy (16th and grand) for the game. I'll also grab a table for people.

I can't tomorrow (other plans for the game), but Newport, while not (to my knowledge) being explicitly UM-affiliated, has been hanging a UM flag for the last month... also, it was a great place to watch Wings-Blackhawks. I think the owner must be Michigan-related?
Have fun.

Someone mentioned that this is the new location for those that formally went to Take 5 (can't same i am familiar with the crowd take 5 would get for past games).
See if we can't make this a regular spot for fellow mgobloggers this year.

The place is pretty close to my wife's old apartment. I'll probably see you there. I have 18 years on you but according to friends, you won't know it. I may not be too much louder than you. I'll try to be there an hour before kick-off.
Dave in WY: I wish I could join you!

Funny, it is close to my husband's wife's old apartment too (e.g. Melrose off Southport).
Have a good time and if the camera pans on Section 18 high up under the boxes you will see an old Chicago neighbor attending the game.

id come, but my little brother can't go.

with my husband and his friend to go to Union Park Lounge...but maybe I'll try Newport for Notre Dame or Eastern.
Let us know how it works out (the bar, not the game!). I am over 30 and pretty sure I wouldn't fit in with the Duffy's crowd either.

I have a similar shirt with the 3/4 front view of the helmet and the words: Michigan Football above and below the helmet. I'll also be wearing my motorcycling jacket/pants & helmet. So, I should be pretty obvious.

I dont live in Chicago anymore, but if I did I would join you there.
I used to live in this 'hood and I really like the Newport as a place to watch games. I would say get there when the noon games kickoff and try to get seats at bar. Its a fun joint and you might have some elbow tomorrow with the holiday weekend and it still being summer. Bring your laundry if you need to since its attached to a laundramat.
Lot of gamblers hang out there. I bet you see at least three Sun Times folded over the odds pages with games circled.

Newport is a solid spot. I can't believe I forgot it in the other thread - I've walked by twice now and insisted on pointing out to my wife that they fly a Michigan banner (I live on Cornelia, so I'm over there a lot).
Have fun.
