Anyone know why he is being a giant asshat, taking things out of context (Desmond quotes), and ripping Michigan like there's no tomorrow? It's just massive piling on at this point, and normally that guy seems above it.

I had read his posts earlier today, and they didn't seem unduly harsh to me. He may have stretched the Desmond quote a tad (though not as badly as other commentators). However, It seemed to me that none of his analysis concerning how bad of a season we've been having was inaccurate or unfair. I certainly did not get the sense that he was reveling in our current misfortunes. If anything, he came down pretty hard on Spielman for his unprofessionalism in bashing us.

Dude... what? I read Matt religiously and haven't noticed anything of the sort. Believe me, he has no axe to grind against Michigan. We email irregularly. He's good people.

"It's one thing to say "Michigan is bad." This is an objective statement: Michigan is 3-8. You can call them the worst team in Michigan history; Desmond Howard almost disowned his alma mater on the same show, calling the current Wolverines "Michigan Tech" and suggesting patience with Rich Rodriguez might be growing thin. Howard happens to be in a position to know this is probably true, and within objective editorial bounds." This is not good reporting. This is taking several things out of context and making it look like Desmond is ripping on RR and disowning UM. I highly doubt the admin is losing patience, it's not even been a year yet, and Matt H shouldn't have used Howard's semi authority position to make it seem like an absolute to people reading it. Edit: More quotes "including ... no, wait ... never mind, yeah, including Sam McGuffie, the great white freshman running back hope who ends the year buried behind Brandon Minor and Carlos Brown." "When Desmond Howard joined his colleagues to defend his alma mater's honor, his best defense was, 'What alma mater?' -- "This isn't Michigan, this is like Michigan Tech."" "But his patience in public has grown thinner with each successive loss, and he seems close to the end of his rope. You cannot, for example, under any circumstances, tell Michigan fans to "get a life" for writing things about the worst team in school history on the Internet." It just seems like he's nearing the OMGHITz kind of journalism we all hate.
