Screwed by the UM Ticket office!

Submitted by PhillyGoBlue on

The day tickets went on sale to the public, I was fortunate to land 2 tickets to the Penn State game before they sold out in a matter of minutes.   My credit card was charged and I have a confirmation in hand.  Then, I get this ridiculous email from the ticket office.  Did anyone else get screwed over by the ticket office?

"Dear Michigan Fan,

We regret to inform you that we are unable to fill your order for Penn State tickets placed on Wednesday, July 23rd.

Demand for this game was extremely high, and tickets sold out in less than five minutes.  Due to the number of servers being used to handle our heavy sales volume, it took several minutes for us to remove this game from our website. We are refunding the orders placed after the sell-out. Unfortunately, your credit card has been refunded for the full amount of your Penn State order.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your interest in this game.

Sincerely,

Marty Bodnar

I mean, it is what it is at this point, but you'd think their technology infrastructure would be set up such that things would be tracked real-time. Also, how much you wanna bet that more than half of those tickets were picked up by brokers?

I don't remember any game ever being unavailable through that route since I've had that option. I mean, Ohio State is always an option whenever we play them at home, so I find it hard to believe Penn State wouldn't. Granted, that only puts you in the alumni lottery, and if things fill up before your number comes up....

I bought my two PSU tickets and then a flight to State College and booked a room. Now due to some "server" error the tickets are gone. Damn you Marty Bodnar!
