Schiano

After (or during) watching the Rutgers/Fresno St game, did anyone else feel extremely releaved and thankfull that Schiano to turn down the Michigan head coaching job, not once but seemingly twice?

Just as one shouldn't overreact to our first game with new players and a new system, we shouldn't overreact to Schiano breaking in new talent at Rutgers this season. It's still Rutgers, and they lost their Mike Hart too. I'm happy to have RichRod, and I think this will all work out, but a poor result in the first game of the season doesn't mean that Schiano would have been a long term disaster had he taken the Michigan job.

I wasn't reading this blog back when the coaching search was going on, so I still have some questions left over from said search.  Why did we go after Schiano in the first place?  What is his claim to fame?  Is he an offense or defense guy?  Is he a good coach?
