Rich's Teleconferences

Submitted by VictorsValiant09 on
BigTenNetwork.com archives all of Rich's teleconferences on their website each week, and I've strangely noticed the media outlets of our rivals repeatedly calling in. Most notably, The Columbus Dispatch and SpartanNation. Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't it seem like media local to Michigan would be posing the questions, not that of our immediate rivals? To add salt in the wound, they're asking offputting questions like "How did it feel to go from 4-0 to 5-5?" engaging in a balancing act of sorts on journalistic objectivity. I mean, c'mon, really? Just seems strange to me. In other news, it's my birthday today--feel free to upbang as appropriate. :) I'd like nothing more than to sweep Sparty in hockey, clobber Northern Michigan in basketball, and upend Wisconsin in Madison. Would make for quite a celebration in the midst of my fruitless job search.

The Columbus and EL media don't ask their coaches a lot of tough questions, so they have to harass RR to keep in practice. Look at the hands-off status Dantonio has been given by the EL media for one good year and one mediocre year. Why isn't the EL media asking him any of the tough questions? Such as, "How does it feel to brag that this team would be in a New Year's Day bowl and now be fighting just to get into the Pizza Pizza bowl? Or, "What happened to MSU's "upward trend" this year?" Also, though they did ask a few tough questions after the Purdue loss, the Columbus media are pretty much shills for Tressel and OSU. It works out fine, though. As much as I do get irritated at some of the A2.com and mlive coverage of UM, at least they try to stay objective. They aren't perfect, but they do manage to keep from being shills or attacking the team on a regular basis.

Obviously, the highs and lows of his job are very public, but imagine the mood you would be in if someone came to your office and started asking you idiotic, loaded questions about your performance. I'm not saying we shouldn't ask the tough questions when they are pertinent, but I am saying people should have some damn decency.
