Reminder: U-M Lacrosse Stadium opening on Saturday

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

The 2018 Michigan Men's Lacrosse season opens on Saturday when they host Cleveland State. It will also be first year head coach Kevin Conry's first game. Conry was the defensive coordinator for the 2017 NCAA Champion Maryland.

But it won't be inside a 0.1% full Big House.

It will be at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium down State St. The inaugural game. It's a gorgeous facility from the outside and I'm sure it'll be even better inside.

Tickets are $6, all seating is general admission. The stadium holds 2,000. If you don't mind cold weather and want to say you were at the first game at U-M Lacrosse Stadium 20 years from now when we have a National Championship banner(s), go to MGoBlue and grab a seat.

Yes, its completely stupid.  there were even several games last week.  this is the absolute dumbest thing about college lacrosse.  They build the season backwards from the championship which has always traditionally been on Memorial Day.  But now the tournament is bigger and there are conference championship tournaments that need to be played beforehand.  So they just keep pushing the season earlier and earlier. By April and May when its really nice out and a perfect time to be playing, most teams' seasons are over.

What's even dumber is that Michigan plays a game next Tuesday at home at fucking 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

already frozen by the time you show up. I'll be at the ADA platform for my fifth year of frozen tundra lacrosse. Stop by and say hello and maybe I'll have my Michgan trivia game set up. A chance to win fabulous prizes.

Good news is concessions and M-Den are over at the Track facility ...so a place to warm-up.

but I'm excited to see what Conry and a new stadium do for us. I feel like this program can be great and we obviously haven't been able to get over the hump yet

I will go out on a limb and say that, eventhough this something of a big event for this program, not a lot of people will be there. And this venue, expensive and flashy as it is, won't really do a lot more to attract fans. I mean its a cool thing to have I guess,  but I think it was overpriced, not really necessary and the location is horrible (and I would argue that it might even be too small).

Oosterbaan was INSIDE.

NOTE: I'm in a foul mood because I've been in a foul mood all week and that basketball game last night really ticked me off (AND Porzingis is hurt).  I apologize for any of the negative vibes I'm throwing out there.
