recruiting track stars

Im curious who the last dominant sprinter/hurdler michigan recruited was.  I cant think of one.  I know sometimes they translate on the field and sometimes they dont.

Long story short, theres a FRESHAMN here in WA that ran a 10.54 100m yesterday to win state.  For reference-roughly a 10.2 woldve put you in the NCAA mens 100m finals.

Thats second fastest in the country for his grade.

Drake Johnson was a 3 time state hurdle champion. He was a better track runner in HS than a football player. We played Pioneer and dominated them, held Johnson to nothing all game...until he got the edge once and you saw his track speed (I'm not suggesting anything negative here, love Drake, heck of an athlete and worker).

That Denard guy was a decent runner as well.

Still holds the Michigan outdoor 200 meter tecord. I went to the same high school (9 years later). Renaldoh Nehamiah was in HS at the same time as Woolfolk and lived in the next town over. Woolfolk was beat in state at 100/200 while Nehimiah (a one time world record hurdler) was best in state at the 110 hurdles. My track coach and journalism teacher said that their dual meet race in the 100 was epic.

Another Woolfolk story - after his first HS football game in my town, my journalism teacher insisted that students only been named their given name the HS paper. Apparently the day the paper came out, with the story describing the game, Harold Woolfolk walked into the journalism class and very politely explained - "I prefer to be called Butch". Our HS paper changed its policy and after that, he was only called Butch.

While Nehimiah clearly accomplished more in track and Butch accomplished more in football, Nehimiah, who did not play in college still made it to the NFL, playing three seasons for the 49ers.

Pretty sure Dennis Norfleet also ran track.

Search all the current and former player bios. We've pulled in quite a few track/football guys. I remember Shaun Crawford (decommit) was another big track guy.

I think Jordan Glasgow ran back that pick 6 in the spring game in about 17.6 if that counts...

If we start recruiting guys just because they're fast, then I will be concerned. Not sure what the point of this thread even is. Who says that track star at Washington is going to be worth anything? Why do we think Michigan needs more track/hurdle stars? I'm not following...
