Recruit: Lucky Radley

Submitted by maizenbluenation on
According to the bottom of the article about Sean Parker's visit, there is another prospect who is coming to visit Michigan next weekend. His name is Lucky Radley and he is a RB/Athlete/Safety who is a 3 star to Rivals as an athelete and a 3 star to scout as a Safety. Does anyone have any more info on this player and has anybody heard of him before? Do we have room for a tweener type of player like this with so many good options still out there interested in us? http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4721526&name=West_Re…

Breakin' fools off a lil' sumfin sumfin. Those moves where ridiculous. Kind of reminds me of McGuffie highlights without the hurdling. His acceleration is very impressive and looks to have exceptional hands. I got motion sickness just watching this kid.

Thanks for the highlights videos. Kids got some moves. Very exciting. One question: in the offensive highlights, he's playing for the Agoura Hills Chargers, but on the defensive highlights he's playing for Crespi. Did he transfer his senior year to play at Crespi?

that 25 yard run at about the 45 second mark of the first video is unreal. I think I counted 14 guys that had a shot to tackle him and could not.

He's got great balance and he makes really good cuts. He reminds me a bit of Dillon Baxter in his lateral movement, although Baxter is quicker and faster. I'm not sure whether Michigan wants him for RB or safety. I'd assume safety due to numbers, but with Drake perhaps not qualifying, maybe they want another RB/slot type. I like Radley more than Austin White, but White is enrolling early, so there's no chance Radley takes his spot or anything.

From an amateur perspective, he seems to have a lot more upside on offense. At 5'9 184lbs, he played LB for his team instead of safety. Maybe the coach just wanted to get his playmaker closer to the LOS, but I think that might say something about his ability in pass coverage... On offense however, the video produces near McGuffie-level "wow" IME. Not only that, the guy is a touchdown machine. Junior stats (per rivals) count 23 TDs on only 106 carries. A TD on nearly every fourth carry??? again, wow. After seeing his moves in the offensive highlights, and knowing that as a high school LB he didn't shy away from contact, I actually really like him on offense. ALSO: Kid only caught 6 passes as a junior, but went for 246 yards and half of those catches were TDs Three words: EX PLO SIVE

And in the comments section (admittedly a weak source but eh) someone posted that the class that bounced him was geometry, which 50% of the students failed due to some communication issues with the teacher (English as a second language) that the school couldn't/did't resolve. Still seems a reach academically but maybe he just needs some good structure and accountability academically. I think Coach Rod could provide that...

North Carolina set the bar high and he almost committed eh.. well we'll see how he likes Michigan. More great athletes, please come on down!

What position would he play if he committed to Mich? Looking at the highlight videos it would be awesome if he could play on the offensive side of the ball. Does anyone know?

Lucky f'n Radley!? Are you serious!? Must have, now, must have... I don't know anything about him, but the man's name is Lucky. Fucking. Radley. Somebody hurry up and tell him that our helmet's got wings. PS - Ok but seriously how the hell are we still recruiting new ppl with the numbers issue? The coaches must know a lot about this class that we don't know, which, well, duh, but, methinks this class is going to look a lot more different on signing day than any of us currently expect. I mean, Vinopal, Radley, Grimes, Murphy, Furman... That puts us at like, what, 34, unless other kids decommit or coaches lose numbers? PS2 - Speaking of PS2, yeah, that run at the :45 mark is ridiculous. McGuffie-esque in epic-ity.

For what it's worth, Rivals says there's no offer there at this time. Reading between the lines, I'm assuming he had an offer but missed his chance to commit.
