PSU has taken one shot you would describe as a good shot. Its been almost entirely contested midrange jumpers, i.e. the worst shot you can take in basketball. Franz missing every shot he takes is the bigger problem

I completely agree. I don't think he was offered to stay. Juwan felt like he was a good enough D coach. They were fun to watch plat D under Yaklich. He understood the college game and how to defend it.

Its impossible to build a consistent offense with a PG that can't shoot a 3. Simpson is the engine that makes this team run but he also puts a real ceiling on the offense

Johns needs to take that shot. Simpson not being a good shooter isn't the problem, it's more the fact that no one else can shoot consistently besides Livers, so there's no spacing.
