Prepare the Order of St. Kovacs?!
It occurred to me that we haven't awarded the Order of St. Kovacs to anyone since Jordan (what with Tru Wilson getting injured right as Zach Charbonnet started up). Let's give Andrew Vastardis some recognition! Maybe not an elite NFL prospect, but many fans thought that having him at center doomed us to mediocrity - and instead he gave us an awesome, heady season capped by dominating a bunch of blue chips (and it's not done yet).
CONVENE THE ORDER!!

AV is having a great last season. I doubted him and he proved me wrong and I'm very happy about that. He is full of fight, leadership and determination.

I think all three Glaswegians are in the order, right?

+1 for being right about the Order, but also for being right about Glaswegian. I also like the incorrect demonyms Glasgovite and Glasgigander.

Kudos to Andrew Vastardis for having a great year and proving all doubters wrong. If not in the NFL, he will have a stellar post-football career in medicine.

Here here.... May the Order of St. Kovacs be bestowed upon the large snapping buckeye-stomping walk-on who has done himself and our mighty institution proud. Huzzah!

Why yes, the Vastardis with great haste to the Order of St. Kovacs! Forthwith!
Also, to the Watch List of the Order, I put forth the name of Kolesar, the Younger. Thou hearest first.

I hereby Second the Watch List of the Order, let Robert's (#68) grandson be recognized.

great point, many many people thought our line would be in real trouble since Zinter didn't win the Center job

Quite Vasdardian.
I bet he plays in the NFL for multiple years.

As a 6th year, Vastardis certainly satisfies the motto of the Order: "Always There. Always." He will probably need this trait for his residency, as well.

Seconded!

This is a great post and great comments. That’s all. Carry on.
Although I feel like there should be a Monty python line in here somewhere.

It's not sensible for us to speculate on whether Vastardis could or couldn't make an NFL roster. He's got a good head on his shoulders, he's playing well, he's a leader, what more could you ask for?
The board was sure that Cade didn't have what it takes to beat elite teams like OSU. The board was convinced we'd never win the big ones relying on the ground game. The board was worried about our inability to pass. We were worried about the secondary. The board was convinced Gattis should be gone, sooner if not later. Half the members (maybe more) were ready to blow off Harbaugh. We doubted this O-line.
And I'll admit that the arguments seemed pretty strong at the time. But we were wrong. The team and coaches knew, and we didn't.
We're just a bunch of fans recycling stuff we read, or stuff we thought might happen based on limited expertise, or things we read in the sports media.
There's nothing bad in this, after all, we're football fans. This is what fans do. And as Michigan fans, we love to worry and have BPONE as the cherry on top.
We don't know how NFL scouts are viewing Vastardis or anyone else, with few exceptions, like Hutchinson. Things may even change as a result of the next game or two.

Since Jordan *Glasgow* of course. Somehow forgot to put that detail in there…
