Premier League Opening Day

Hard to beat the EPL Opening Day- great stuff.

Anyone catch Brentford v Arsenal yesterday? Brentford has been out of the top flight for almost 80 years and in their first game back, they took out Arsenal. The post-game celebration was absolutely awesome to watch.

And what is going on with Arsenal? They just looked lifeless.

Can someone explain how this is gonna work for EPL? Are all games on the same channels as usual or did NBC actually go ahead and start streaming games instead? I know the EPL isn’t thrilled with NBC at the moment so just wondering.

Also, go Chelsea! Hope to see Pulisic finally have a good injury free season.

Missed the Arsenal game yesterday but saw Man U today and they were explosive to start the 2nd half. Leeds wide open style bit them in the ass. I'm a west ham fan so I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to see them. COYI!

I was just talking about this with someone else today. Teams like West Ham, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Southampton- it has to be so hard to be a fan of those clubs. They are always just floundering in the mid-bottom of the Prem League; good enough to stick but will never, ever be a threat to win the whole thing.

Always surprised West Ham has not been relevant in forever it seems - despite a decent past season. They just seem like a potential super team if they had the right ownership or financial backing. Even though their fans are, um, intense, I’d still enjoy seeing them have a little bit of success

The stadium they have certainly does no favors for spectating a game, however. I’ve been to a bunch of stadiums in my life, and the London Olympic stadium (even after they made adjustments for West Ham) is the most sterile stadium out there. You are also sitting a mile away from the action it feels.

It's all pretty new to me but I think I picked a bad day to start being an Arsenal supporter. That was rough. At the same time, it felt kind of familiar as a Michigan fan, being on that side of someone else's big, unexpected, jubilant win

Bundesliga poppin off this weekend too. Lots of USMNT guys to follow.

Joe Scully just played an integral part in shutting down Bayern yesterday. Julien Green & Furth are up in the top tier. Tyler Adams is always fun to watch chase a ball all season. John Brooks  on the backlines of Wolfsburg. Chris Richards could have his coming out party this year. And Gio Reyna is playing alongside the best striker in the game (Haaland) at BVB. A team that has all the talent to challenge Bayern for the title.

Whoops, I misspelled his name. Julian*

But he was never was able to crack the Bayern first team. Went out on a few loans. Sold to another Bundesliga team. Loaned down to a 2nd division team a few times before being sold there permanently. Finally locked down a starting spot and then just led that team to promotion.

Rocky start to this season losing in the Pokal (Germany's Cup tournament) & getting crushed 5:1 in their first game in the Bundesliga. But, he did score in the Pokal game. Definitely an opportunity to get back in the USMNT rotation. Especially with the condensed WCQ schedule this year.

I started watching Chelsea a couple years ago to see Pulisic.  I ended up becoming a fan of the team because of their other players.  Many young and up and coming. At the time they were considered underdogs against the big boys.  But then Tuchel came in.  He is the best tactician out there and a great players manager. The results speak for themselves.  And now they get Lukaku.  I was already a big fan of Lukaku.  I am looking forward to a great year.

Wolves supporter here.  Our former coach Nuno just moved to Tottenham and stunned the defending champs opening week.  We are a year older with less talent.  We have owners who refuse to put money into the club.  We have an aging stadium and poor infrastructure.

But we are supported by Robert Plant.   So there’s hope.
