I had it as my facebook profile pic a couple years ago. I can get it to you after work, though you'll probably have someone else provide it for you before then.

Does anyone know if this is actually real? I find it kind of hard to believe someone would have sufficient time to do this without getting caught.

I'm 90% sure this is 'shopped, but I like to hold out hope that there in an exceptionally rad dude out there who paints very quickly in the dark

That's got to be photoshopped. It's too good of a paint job. The Sparty statue has been closely watched forever - the few times we have managed to paint it, it's been a really quick job (one time was with a paintball gun).

Didn't someone do a drive-by with maize and blue paintballs during rivalry week a few years ago?

Wouldn't we save the paintballs for a rival?

It's still a great picture... tremendous.

I think Mike Hart has a replica of this Statue painted just like it in his foyer

I could easily be called out as a liar, fake, or jerk with this claim, and I know this is several montsh old, but...
I am the source of the image in question.
Before the Michigan @ Michigan State game in 2007, I found a stock photo of Sparty online and 'shopped it. I knew the history of Michigan fans painting Sparty, the subsequent creation of Sparty Watch, etc. So I thought it would be funny. I sent it to a couple of my friends, probably made it my profile picture, whatever.
Then we won. And it was awesome. And Mike Hart called Sparty little brother. Cue facebook groups.
I didn't really want the picture to be circulated or anything, so I just showed it to some friends. One of them decided to post it on one of the facebook groups in the wake of the 2007 victory and Mike Hart's comments, though. From there, I'm guessing it just circulated.
So, that's my story. I 'shopped it because I thought it would be funny. I was surprised at how good I got it to look though with my at the time CS3. Cool, I guess?
Believe what you want. I have no reason to lie about this :-P
