If some magical football wizard had told me before the season, "Here's your offer: U of M football can go 10-1, then stomp OSU, win the conference title game and make the CFP… but the price?  Getting crushed in the CFP.  What say you?

I’d have said, “Where do I sign?!”

So would you.

It was a fantastic season.

Yes.  Which means things won't change much for us in these kind of games any time soon.  We're not going to "sneak up" on any team in the CFP and win (unless it's a Cinci type team).  We need BOTH a lot of highly rated players AND a good strategy to win.  For now, the ceiling for us is what we just accomplished - which is still a lot.  Beat OSU and win the Big Ten Championship

I mean, yes. Before the season, yes. But you know how expectations shift when circumstances change, right?

I mean, I think I illustrated that for myself personally when I told friends and family before the OSU game: I just want this game, and I don’t even care about the Big Ten championship or making the playoffs or anything like that. About two days after the Ohio State game, that expectation changed. Now, I wanted a B1G title. And when we got THAT, well…you get the point.

Still, you are correct. I mean, prior to the season beginning, I predicted Michigan to go 7-5, and I thought that this might even be on the optimistic side. I had already written off games at Wisconsin and Penn State as likely losses, and the Ohio State game as a definite loss.

So, given what did go down? I’m still disappointed with the lopsided result from tonight. I think all of us are. We got our butts kicked. But I certainly cannot be unhappy—in any sense of that term—with the season.

I was there tonight. I was there for PSU and for OSU and for the last 150 something home games. This team was special and I enjoyed the ride. You want to compete for a national title then you need to be be better than teams like Georgia. We made the show and it was fun. Lets do it again and get better doing it. 2021 has been a difficult year personally, but it’s been so fun to watch this team. People on the internet go nuts for 100 college kids going to schools to play football and nothing short of 15 wins with 15 shutouts will change that. I’m proud as an alum of this team. Go Blue.

It was a great season. Then after the Iowa game the team was so busy licking their own ballsacks that they lost their edge. It’s a fine line between winning and losing 34-11. That’s why it’s good to have been there before.

It’s just obvious we aren’t built to play big boy football. We have a roster full of 3 and 4 stars and the elite teams have roster full of 4 and 5 stars. Did anyone seriously think this game would go differently?
