Pat White getting drafted helpful?
Just wondering if Pat White's draft status will have an affect on recruiting? There is a lot of negative recruiting going on out there about RR's offense not being a good one for future NFL QB's. We have all heard QB's who aren't interested in Michigan because they want to play more of a Pro Style Offense (Robert Bolden comes to mind). Depending on how high Pat White gets drafted, I hope we can put some of those thoughts to rest. I have heard him going as high as the 3rd round and I believe he is ranked as the 5th best QB in this class. Obviously he is going to be used more like a Randal-El/Brad Smith type but hey he will be playing and will get drafted.
Again just wondering what everyone thinks and if it will even have an impact.
I have not watched anything on the draft this year so I don't know where he is going to go but I think that people realize that RR was not at a QB universtiy and did what he did. I think people instead, will look at people like Vince Young who ran a spread.
Read an article about a week ago (can't find the link now), said he was performing really well at the draft events. Strong arm, good accuracy, good timing.
gasp...what's this?!?! quarterback drafting in the nfl is more often than not a crapshoot?
Just because a few 3rd rounders and 1 6th or 7th rounder a decade turn out to be good doesn't mean its a total crapshoot.
Then Pat White with their late first or second, depending on where he is projected.
I think he will be the next Donovan McNabb.
Millen, is that you? Hello?
Dice-k has a shorter windup than Pat White. Yeah he's got a decent arm and he's surprisingly accurate, but good Qb's get the ball out of their hand quick, but the mechanics he uses to get it won't work in the NFL on a consistent basis. He'll be a very nice piece on a team but I don't think he ends up as a good NFL Qb, and even if you thought he would be good, he'll probably be around for the lions 3rd or 4th rounder, maybe even a 5th depending on his pro-day.
...it can't hurt. It will more than likely be good for the future if he is successful in the NFL as a Michael Vick-type player (minus the dogs, inaccuracy, [ability]).

who thinks there's a better system/school to prepare him for the NFL, I sense a flip-side--kids who think an offense like this may be their best chance to flourish at the college level. Take the two incoming freshman as examples. No one was going to give Robinson a shot at the position, right? Come north, young Denard, and "Voila." And while Forcier held some good offers from some prominent non-spread schools (Wisky, for chrissakes, the anti-spread attack), it seems the system worked in Michigan's favor in his recruitment.
I think the real question is, would you rather win with a Elvis Grbac type or a Pat White type? I think to most fans, the answer doesn't matter if they put points on the board.
If White makes an NFL squad as a QB, it sure couldn't hurt recruiting. But regardless, I still think this staff will get its share of the kids it wants at that position.
