Pat White to the.... Dolphins?
Talk about an interesting situation at QB there! He's taken too early to be solely considered a WR prospect, so that means there's going to be some head to head between Pat White (a RR product) and Chad Henne (a LC product). If Pat White turns out to have any success at all that's going to be huge for the future recruiting. Unfortunately it would come at Chad Henne's expense...
Chad benne was already proclaimed starter as soon as pennington leaves....white is probably there to foster the wildcat offense
I personally like Pat White as a QB. I was sold during that UNC game - he proved he was a QB - not a spread only QB. That pass late in the game between the safety and corner was a rocket.
No kidding, Chad Henne will have the spot. Chad Pennington is like 33 or something like that. Pat White will never be a legit QB in my opinion.

Look at the Dolphins' gimmick use of the wildcat, it was a tremendous asset, but with White it'd be better. that's not to say he'd be solely a wildcat quarterback, he'd return kicks and punts, and play slot.

LC QB to RR WR. Or RR Wildcat QB to LC QB. Hahahaha.
That is almost as good as me calling Tebow winning the Heisman in 2008 while he was still the backup to Leak.

Interesting scenario. On one hand, the Dolphins are very transparent that they like Henne, as pointed out by another poster.
On the other hand, Pat White, as a WR, in the second round? After we'd heard about him impressing with his arm during the combine (or pro day, whatever)?
As a Chad Henne fan, I can only hope that the idea is to use White in the wildcat and at WR.

I thought Tebow deserved it a lot more last year than he did the year he won it. His stats weren't nearly as good, but he was a much better leader. My standard for a QB is that he doesn't get to lose four games and win any trophy. I would have given the Heisman to McFadden the year Tebow won it and to Tebow last year if it were my choice.

the name of that little dude who played for indiana and pittsburg. maybe the dolphins are thinking more along those lines as well as some direct wildcat. Randel el, that's it.
Antwan Randle El. PittsburgH never used Randel El as a throwing option except for the one play that everyone remembers: the toss in Super Bowl XL.
Which is more or less how he should have been used as a passer, I think.

I didn't literally mean "never", but really, compared to what the poster I was responding to was expecting in the situation with Pat White, the number of pass attempts that Randle El had during his four years with us the two aren't comparable. At all. Randle El's passing ability was used strictly for trick plays.

I know? I said the OP misunderstood (or misremembered) how Pittsburgh used Randle El. I will bet you good money that White throws the ball more than 16 times in four years. Pittsburgh NEVER (and this time I really do literally mean never) used Randle El's passing in anything other than trick plays. I could be wrong in my recollection, but I don't think I am, that Randle El never took a direct snap from center and passed; those were always running plays. The few times he threw were off of reverses or throw backs.
This is what I get for being a pedantic ass. It seems to me that he had gotten the occasional direct snap at least when he was a rookie, but I may also be confusing him with someone else (Kordell Stewart in his slash days?). Or just confused.
I wouldn't be surprised to see White pass more, either, but I would be surprised if he throws more than 2-3 balls a game in his career (unless he winds up playing as a conventional quarterback).
Yeah, his rookie year was the last year that Kordell was with the Steelers.

Given the trade rumors that have had the Dolphins shipping out Ronnie Brown, it is clear to me that the Dolphins are acquiring themselves a 'utility infielder.' The Wildcat formation gets alot more interesting when there is a legitimate pass threat. ESPN mentioned the possibility of Wildcat formations becoming up to 25% of the Dolphins offense. Besides this, White should be able to play receiver and handle returns, giving him additional versatility.

He might have caught a pass or two on trick plays, but he hasn't returned a kick since he entered college. I think you might want to re-evaluate your use of the word "should."

I agree. Saying that White should do returns shows an misunderstanding of the skill set that Pat White brings to the table. I would be pretty surprised if he's used in that role.
I'm a Dolphin fan in addition to a Michigan fan and those Brown trade rumors are way overblown. He's not going anywhere.
In fact, there's a very good chance he gets signed to an extension before the season starts.
I just watched the spot that ESPN did on the Dolphins and why they picked White and what they intend to do with him regarding the Wildcat. Admittedly I'm not a Dolphins fan so I hadn't paid any attention to what they were doing with the Wildcat, but holy crap is their wildcat similar to our read option. That is going to be the perfect system for Pat White's skills.
Interesting to me; White, a spread option qb goes in round 2. Troy Smith, more of a pro spread, a 6th round pick. Didn't Pryor go to OSU because he thought Tress could better prepare him for the NFL?
I thought it was the Corvettes, hookers, blow, and steroids?
