OT: Wolverines Considered for Reintroduction into Colorado

The article is pretty interesting though it says such hurtful things as, “They measure up to 18 inches tall at the shoulder and look like a small bear crossed with a badger crossed with a skunk.”

And “Wolverines—also called ‘mountain devils’ and ‘skunk bears’”

They've been spotted a few times lately in the Utah portion of the Uintas.

That's a subrange of the Rockies that extends into the far NW corner of Colorado (up by Dinosaur Monument & Craig).

So they may already be there.

Buffalos are impressive creatures / animals.  I’ve scene videos of Wolverines defending their ground against a pack of wolves.  Something tells me a Wolverine can handle a Buffalo.

It's always hopeful that wildlife reintroduce themselves back into ecosystems that they once occupied, but that is not the case most of the time.  It has happened with wolves in the Great Lake States about 70 years ago, but that is a rare occasion.  It has also happened with wolves in Washington State, Oregon and now California, but that was only due to the reintroduction of wolves in the northern Rocky Mountain States.  When wildlife does not reintroduce itself back, then the next best option is for the experts to reintroduce them because it was mankind that took them out in the first place.  Wolves are being reintroduced back into Colorado later this year, and I wish wolverines would repopulate themselves back into the state, it is nothing more than wishful thinking, so the scientists have to do it.
