Good for the Yakliches. Griffin is going to have himself an urban experience. Also, his family and friends will have no trouble getting tickets. Here's a pregame picture from the season before last:

That's Credit Union 1 Arena. The only time that place is full is for commencement. As for the urban experience its more like the typical gentrified urban experience you see a lot of places. Lotta nice restaurants, bars and condos. But authentic Chicago? Not so much.

Right -- I was the photographer. I'm quite familiar with UIC.

There are degrees of "urban experience," right? Different kinds, too.

It's not like Yaklich Jr. will be living in a condo on Belden in Lincoln Park while attending DePaul.

I'd concede that Taylor Street looks like an gentrified urban set piece for a few stretches, but there's some urban life to be found within a few blocks. Just standing on the platform at the UIC-Halsted Blue Line would be worth a few points IMO.

Serious question: What would meet your spec? Would he have to live in a "fixer upper" in K-Town? Sufficiently authentic?
