OT: Titus Young

May not have been the expected pick, but I love this kids attitude: "It turns out Young has family ties to Detroit, where his maternal grandfather lived. He hasn't visited since his grandfather passed away in 1998, but he says he's coming home. "My roots are actually in Detroit," Young said, when asked to explain the tears. "It's just the emotion of I'm actually gonna be back in a family town. That's my home now. I'm gonna take care of Detroit, and I know they'll take care of me. And all this emotion is really just all the hard work and all this waiting and all this patience and having faith in the Lord and …" "But the whole thing is just about winning," he added. "I feel like we're all gonna be winners in Detroit. Not just me — the community, the kids in Detroit, they're gonna know that the Lions are here to stay. We ain't just no anybody; we're coming to play." The article also points out that the lions #3 and #4 receivers combined for 21 receptions last year.... http://www.detnews.com/article/20110430/OPINION03/104300343/1031/opinio…

Why does everyone keep saying we needed a CB? http://www.nfl.com/stats/team  the stats tell you we had more issues with our rush defense, Nick Fairley will help that on top of Qbs wont have much time to throw the ball. Smith and Houston both had good years for us. On top of all that we have a kid who wants to be in detroit who wants to help the community i dont know if you been to detroit lately but we need guys like him.

Tulloch coming to the Lions and Levy can switch outside. Lions still have 2 more picks and undrafted FAs. Im glad they didnt get an OL in the 2nd round because there werent any available that warranted a 2nd rd pick unless you want to reach. I kind of wanted Brandon Harris but he fell down pretty far. Im guessing most NFL coaches know more about him than I do.

I like Fairley and Leshoure picks a lot. Titus Young I'll need some getting used to but in all I think this draft did improve the team.

Needs at CB/LB. OL needs help but its not too pressing. The Lions gave up 6th fewest sacks in NFL, 7th fewest qb hits. Thats not too bad. Shit the Bears gave up twice as many and made the NFC Championship game.

So you're the Lions GM and you're sitting at 13...Fairley and Prince are sitting there for you. Indications were Detroit was looking to trade down and couldnt. Minnesota also tried to trade but couldnt, forcing them to REEEACH on Ponder.

So who do you pick...Fairley or Prince? I would go for Fairley no doubt. In 3 years hindsight might be 20/20 and we can say something else, or we'll applaud the pick. I like Fairley pick a lot.

The Lions got their pick in pretty fast once they realized the Vikings weren't going to take Fairley. That wasn't the delay of a team seeing if it can engineer a trade.

I lIke the pick. It gives the Lions a very clear identity on defense. Every team who plays them for the next few years is going to be focused on gameplanning to keep their quarterback from being planted into Bolivian.

This is all assuming Fairley ends up being good in the pros. If he's playing off of Suh I have to imagine there's a cap on how bad he could be.

They said yesterday they thought Fairley would be taken by the Vikings, so they were looking to trade down (which still would allow them to get a number if the guys they were after), but when Minny went QB, they stopped talking trade and knew unanimously who they wanted.
