And no sooner did I save, and the US goes up 1-0!
Seemed it was inevitable. They've been putting pressure on the Jamaican back line all game.
Pepi seems like he's got a bright future!
October 7th, 2021 at 8:58 PM ^
Can't do MLB playoffs. Still bummed about last night's walk off.
And Stafford better get in gear. Don't want to go 0-2 in that division.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:07 PM ^
I want the Rams to go 3-14. I just want the best possibility for the Lions going forward- I know they suck, but if that pick turns into a top 20 pick, that's a huge bonus.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:23 PM ^
Yeah as a Lions fan I get it, but Matty was a class act in Detroit, I will always pull for him. Not his fault that incompetent owners kept this franchise as a laughing joke for the last 6 decades. At least he got out in his prime unlike Barry and Megatron.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:27 PM ^
I have absolutely nothing against Stafford. He's a good dude.
I'm just one of those fans that once you are with someone else, I don't maintain some loyalty towards them.
I don't blame people who do, but in this case with the trade, there's a direct conflict with rooting for him and wanting the Lions to get better quickly. If this trade never happened, sure, go ahead and win the SB and have a career year. I can't root for him now, because the better he plays, the more it hurts Detroit.
October 7th, 2021 at 10:45 PM ^
I would argue that Barry was still in his prime when he retired, or at least within the "barely human" mode that would be prime for any other RB.
October 8th, 2021 at 7:23 AM ^
Barry Sanders absolutely retired in his prime. It came out of nowhere and was really shocking. 1,491 yards rushing in his final season (1998).
October 8th, 2021 at 9:20 AM ^
Barry was still in his prime. That's one of the main sports memories from my childhood.
October 8th, 2021 at 11:55 AM ^
Barry retired early at the age of 30 with many years still left. He was still in his “prime”. Because he did this, he is still in pretty decent shape for a running back with his 10 year career.
October 8th, 2021 at 4:32 AM ^
The Cardinals being Russia’s team makes way too much sense.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:00 PM ^
Red Wings are up 2-1 on the penguins. Big NHL preseason lineup tonight
October 7th, 2021 at 9:05 PM ^
Are the Wings going to be any good this year? Been a long time since they were a contending team.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:09 PM ^
I'd say they will be improved and could hopefully make the playoffs, but they are still rebuilding. I have faith in the Yzerplan, though. He clearly gets it.
October 7th, 2021 at 10:07 PM ^
Any good? No.
Better? Yes. They were .500 the last 2/3 of last season.
October 7th, 2021 at 10:25 PM ^
Their getting there but another year at least from even sniffing the playoffs. Yzerman is doing things right, it just takes a while to turn the roster over and replace all the talent through the draft.
It's looking like Lucas Raymond (4th overall pick in the 2020 draft) is going to make the team. If/when he does, he would join Larkin as the only teenagers to make the Wings in a long time. So even if they're losing games, they should be worth watching.

Not in New Jersey. The lights went out.

I live in NJ. My neighbor plays for the devils.

Pepiiiiiiiiiiiiii
October 7th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
Pepi 2
Jamaica 0
October 7th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
Wow, another goal for Pepi!
2-0
This kid just keeps putting himself in the right place at the right time. I think this is 3 goals in 2 international appearances. And he's only 18!
October 7th, 2021 at 9:10 PM ^
They can't keep him out of the WC lineup now.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:10 PM ^
Between Pepi busting out, and Yunus looking good... forget just qualifying, I'm seeing bigger things in the US future!
October 7th, 2021 at 9:09 PM ^
Jamaica doesn't seem particularly good, but Dest, McKennie, and Musah have done a good job finding good passes and possessing the ball for long stretches.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:11 PM ^
Arriola seems to me the prototypical American player. High energy, high effort, terrible touch, no finesse.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:14 PM ^
He holds up play pretty well though. These opportunities have come from him tonight.
I don't think he'll be starting in the WC with the team at full, but he's still a great sub to have.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:18 PM ^
Lol these commentators have been merciless on the ref. I wasn't watching live when the fouls happened, but they definitely seemed like they warranted reds.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:21 PM ^
I saw the second one, missed the first.
From what I saw, I think it deserved red, but the only thing I'll say is that it wasn't a totally clear break. The defender was a little bit off to his side; it was not directly behind him.
He's getting crap because he's taking too long to make a decision- I guess that doesn't bother me.
October 7th, 2021 at 9:21 PM ^
My Sox took a hit tonight. Giolito should have been the starter, but it is what it is. In some random universe I could see Jamaica, Bo Sox should have it
October 7th, 2021 at 9:27 PM ^
McKennie has really good vision on his passes. He seems to me that he's going to be a crucial piece of any WC run.
October 7th, 2021 at 10:29 PM ^
WTF? I've never seen that! The punt got blocked, and the punter picked it up and punted it again!
October 7th, 2021 at 10:31 PM ^
And, as long as the ball doesn't cross the line of scrimmage, that shit is legal!! Only Thursday night!
October 7th, 2021 at 10:46 PM ^
But they showed a replay that showed it was over the LOS. I guess it was close. It's crazy. Truth is stranger than fiction!
October 7th, 2021 at 10:51 PM ^
Yeah, the punter went over the LOS, but the initial punt never crossed the LOS. They made a mistake on the punter crossing, but they were correct on the initial punt.
October 7th, 2021 at 10:32 PM ^
That's the great thing about sports. You never know what you're going to see on any given night.
October 7th, 2021 at 10:47 PM ^
You never know what you're going to see on any given night.
And just like that, Geno Smith throws a touchdown pass! We have a game!
October 7th, 2021 at 10:33 PM ^
I've never seen that either. Incredible play by the kicker and embarassing by the announcers, including "rules expert" to say it was going to be a penalty.
October 7th, 2021 at 10:49 PM ^
Yeah, Mike was even stumped by that play. You would think that it would be the same as a qb whose pass gets batted right back to him. He can't throw it again! So, how in the hell can the punter punt it AGAIN?!
October 7th, 2021 at 10:45 PM ^
Geno Smith?!! I didn't even know he was still in the league! This is the craziest game so far this year!
October 7th, 2021 at 10:52 PM ^
Everybody Hates Russ
October 7th, 2021 at 10:50 PM ^
Glad the US won. I would have been extra pissed if we didn't when Jamaica should've been down two men.
October 7th, 2021 at 10:57 PM ^
The fk'n Rams kicker just kicked the kickoff out of bounds for the SECOND time today! He missed an extra point, as well. This game is... odd!
October 7th, 2021 at 11:09 PM ^
I wonder if Dan Campbell was watching. Need a fg and td under 5 minutes? Take the fg on 4th down. You have to get one score before you get two scores.
October 8th, 2021 at 8:42 AM ^
If you're referring to the Lions game in Chicago last weekend, the right call was clearly to go for it on 4th down, down 10 with 4 minutes left. The 4th down bot agrees
October 8th, 2021 at 9:39 AM ^
Well, the analytics say to go for it on virtually every 4th down. That's why that high school coach out west never punts. However, the game isn't played on paper, or with complex math. It's played with simple math. I need 2 scores (fg and td), I likely have only 1 other possession left, and it doesn't matter which sequence the points come in. Analytics give probabilities, and there isn't enough difference between a 12% and 7% probability to take the more risky choice.
October 7th, 2021 at 11:14 PM ^
The red socks are about to lose. Good, because fuck Boston.
October 8th, 2021 at 8:44 AM ^
I am a die-hard Tigers fan, but I don’t get to see a lot of their games in Florida. I have followed the Rays pretty closely this year and they are for real. I was worried they peaked in August but they are playing great baseball right now. Can’t remember the last time I saw someone straight-up steal home, that was pretty cool.
October 7th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
Is Geno about to make himself some money for next year?
October 7th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
That was a bad read anyway. Even if the wr doesn't fall down, there are still 3 defenders in the immediate area.
October 7th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
Well...no.
October 7th, 2021 at 11:32 PM ^
Canada draws at Mexico, 1-1.
