I about spit out my coffee when they said he cuts quicker than an arrow leaving a bow. Really?! Sports Science is such bullshit.
Arrows travel at 300 feet + per second and there is no way he could cut quicker than it leaving the rest.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:14 AM ^
we are supposed to quiver at the thought of his speed.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:20 AM ^
Hey-o.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:44 AM ^
So what you're saying is that his cuts compound the confusion on the defensive side of the ball? Can't "nock" that!
October 16th, 2010 at 12:06 PM ^
He will bow under pressure though.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:25 PM ^
Don't knock it, speed kills.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:57 AM ^
..is just another feather in his cap.
October 16th, 2010 at 6:57 PM ^
yeah, that assertion seems a bit off-target
October 16th, 2010 at 11:14 AM ^
Science has no explanation for the Nard. Maybe string theory (or lack thereof).
Sports Science is a who's who of MSM darlings. Can't wait for the feature on the hand-eye coordination of Cam Newton's laptop burgle-ing skills in next week's feature after Bevo drops the Huskers.
(I know he just bought the stolen laptop, it's funnier this way.)

Lamarr Woodley was on sports science...
October 16th, 2010 at 2:11 PM ^
Lamarr can be on whatever show he wants, as long as he doesn't eat me.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:30 PM ^
than the speed of light. He only slows down so everybody can see him run. Occasionally, he'll reeaaaaaaaaaaaaaly slow down just to get tackled so everybody thinks that they have a chance of catching dilithium.

ESPN has forgotten about Denard after his one average performance, despite his 5 unheralded performances. They've always had a "what have you done for me lately" attitude. If Denard plays spectacular again today, then they'll all jump back on his bandwagon.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:41 AM ^
Did manage to let everyone know MSU stopped Denard on the ground. I'm sure it had nothing to do with UM being behind and going to the air more than usual. ESPN pisses me off more an more.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^
when you consider 215 passing yards plus 86 rushing yards with two TDs as an bad performance. That's 301 total yards which is considered to be a great game for most QB. lol
October 16th, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
This is just more fluff for the ESPN coverage. Clearly they are trying to find intriguing ways to get the casual fan interested in tidbits of the sport and what better way than to make ridiculous comparisons.
I especially liked the Steve Young comparison at the end....meh. whatever.

I was sick of DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD last week. I'll gladly move the spotlight elsewhere just so the DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD DENARD can make a triumphant return after Ohio State.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:48 AM ^
That's interesting, because I was not sick of DENARD DENARD DENARD in the least. It meant he was owning fools. I'd prefer it stays around, since that means we're probably winning games.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
I can't plus you enough.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
I want Denard pasted all over ESPN. It's MICHIGAN MICHIGAN MICHIGAN and DENARD DENARD DENARD AND IT'S GREAT GREAT GREAT for our recruiting.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
You need FAITH, not science to know how fast Denard is. It cannot be measured.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:37 PM ^
I believe that Denard was already in one of these sports sciences.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:14 PM ^
All you michigan fans. taylor martinez is better and faster. taylor funs of 30+ yards are doubled Denards. and nebraska also has 2 great running backs that also get 100 yards a peice so he dont need to do everything
October 16th, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
Aside from the running backs part, this is pretty much what our attitude towards his 'Nardness was after 5 games. Then you play a real defense. I'm sure his shiftiness will be noticeably less effective against a Texas team that has already seen one unconventional offense shred them, and needs this game more than Nebraska does. Enjoy watching him be 'better and faster' against the rest of the Big 12. And we'll see you next year for the head to head comparison.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:17 PM ^
Anyone else read "doubled Denards" and automatically imagine the following 2 scenarios:
1) An army of cloned D-Robs running amok against Iowa
2) Literally Double D Denard's, the strip club I pray he never has to open after his playing days. Or Denard with boobs.
/sleep deprived
October 16th, 2010 at 3:13 PM ^
Can you imagine the stats Denard can put up once Michigan field's a competent defense that can actually stop some teams from going on longgggg drives and giving Denard even more cracks at other team's defense.
It has only just begun.
October 16th, 2010 at 3:25 PM ^
Every time I watch a game that doesn't involve Michigan, I just imagine how much damage Denard could do with almost any other defense in the nation. Denard gets more posessions, more chances to break a long run, opposing defense gets increasingly tired, we control the game, UM defense less tired. It will be nice to see this defense mature over the next few seasons along with Denard.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:34 PM ^
Look I love UofM as the next guy but not everything has to be about Denard. Some of are you were complaining that "hes gettin too much press and other teams will know about him" and now this. C'mon man chill out, I think everyone knows that Taylor Martinez isnt the fastest guy in college football.
October 16th, 2010 at 3:21 PM ^
Rece Davis literally just made the claim that Taylor Martinez might be the fastest man in college football, with the only possible exception being Jeff Demps. Not only that, he made the claim only ten seconds after mentioning Denard facing Iowa's defense.
October 16th, 2010 at 3:34 PM ^
is a douche
October 17th, 2010 at 1:48 AM ^
Texas disagrees. They held Martinez to 21 yards on 13 carries.
