OT: Question/Request for Brian on Point System that May or May Not Have Been Answered

Submitted by Seth9 on
For starters, I've been wondering about this since the Western game and I've been waiting for a time when the board isn't busy so I don't pollute the discussion about Michigan football. I figured that 1:04 AM on Thursday morning prior to the Eastern game was probably the best I was going to do, as it can be read in the morning and disappear in the afternoon. I know that discussing points is somewhat taboo and that I'll probably be negged for posting this at all, but I'm really curious. So here it goes: Brian, is there anything we can do to see which specific posts we are being negged or +1-ed? I have been getting a number of pluses and minuses and am not sure what they are for. I am curious because I use points as a general guide to how my posts are being received, which allows me to improve the quality of my posts (provided that the pluses and minuses are being given for intelligent reasons, which isn't always the case; I was +1-ed for a bunch of stuff during the Rosenberg uproar that were reasonably undeserving of praise).

Writes. He doesn't write for his audience. He doesn't write to sell books. He isn't a publicity hound who gets plastic surgery so his pictures on the cover jacket get him the babes. And he is not a points whore. If you ask about points again, I will be SO ANGRY that I will do nothing about it.

I used to be in favor of being able to see who negged you etc... But it would lead to people warring w/ eachother, and being spiteful in general. Bad idea.

I'm asking if there is anyway to see which posts are being plused of minused without looking through every individual post and seeing the net total vote and nothing else. I don't have any wish to remove anonymity of the people who +1 or -1 individual comments. EDIT: Here's an example of what I'm talking about: Once, I forgot to add an OT tag to a topic I started. I got negged several times. The topic was on the second page of the Board when I logged on again and I didn't know what I did wrong for awhile. These mistakes are much easier to find if there is a way to see why you are being plused or minused without having to look back at several individual posts (which doesn't work for OPs anyways), especially if you are like me and typically post in bunches. I just wondered if there is a way to do this.
