OT: Penalties in the Colts/Chargers overtime

Submitted by gujd on
I was just watching the replay of the facemask on sproles in OT and that linemen blocking 55 on the colts was holding and grabbing his facemask too. Questionable no call there and also on the defensive holding, the receiver pushed off for pass interference when the ball got there too. NOt a fan of either, just observing.

I'm just really happy that it happened the way it did. For years, Bill Polian (Colts GM) has been very critical of officials in Colts games, often going over that no-no line when it comes to criticizing, without getting fined or reprimanded by the league. It got to a point that the Colts were getting very iffy calls. I remember a particular games against the Patriots* where the DBs were getting pass interference calls simply for breathing on the Colts' receivers. Polian is also the same asswipe who roughed up Jets team employee (threw him up against a wall) during a Colts-Jets game, and again the league turned a blind eye to this incident. That asshat deserves that loss tonight, especially the way it happened. *As a Pats fan, I simply hate the Colts, so question my objectiveness if you want. But I remember that game, and even ESPN, Peter King, etc questioned the officiating in that game and linked it to Polian's constant whining and the pressure he puts on head officials.

Those were some bad calls in the Colts-Bolts game, but the calls in the above referenced game were quite pathetic and cost the Lions their best chance at a win. After those calls I went into a Hal Mcrae rage all over the house http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kamDqL-AGzI. Long story short, what goes around comes around, at least for everyone but the Lions.

I hate Payton Manning and everything for which he stands -- this stems back to the 97 season when Woodson won the Heisman and Fulmer was a doochebag that did not vote for Michigan as the top team in the land (I think he didn't even vote for us in the Top 5). Yes, this is holding a grudge, but it is 1 AM and I am on a Michigan blog. Anything that happens bad to Payton, and by extension his snot nosed brother, makes me happy. Good calls all of them... ... And any Colts fans out there who say Payton is such a great guy... I don't care. Sports fandom needs not rationale. Go Chargers!

But I loathe Phil Rivers. At least Peyton is classy when he beats up on teams. Phil Rivers is a douchebag. I hope they play the Steelers next and Woodley gives him a career ending concussion. Brain splattering hit. I know I'm a horrible, horrible person, I don't care, I want to see Phil Rivers carted off the field bleeding from his ears. I also realize its hipocritical for me to call someone classless, but I'm not an NFL QB, I'm just a 20-something half drunk kid on a computer at quarter past 2 at night. I get to be classless.

Serenity hit it on the head...The Colts losing a game because of a questionable pass interference call is pretty funny. Talk about reaping what you've sown. The facemask call I did think was pretty questionable, looked like the play was pretty much over when it happened. Although the Chargers were already in field goal range at that point anyway Speaking of funny how about Tomlinson pretending to be happy after the game?? Between him and Edgerrin James in the first game there was some awful fake enthusiasm on display today.
