OT: Oregon CB signee Luke Hill arrested

Submitted by Magnus on May 20th, 2020 at 2:58 PM

Baltimore (MD) St. Frances product Luke Hill was arrested on eight charges, including attempted 1st degree murder (LINK). Hill signed with Oregon and was a 4-star recruit. Michigan recruited him, and Biff Poggi is the head coach there at St. Frances.

Hill signed with Oregon in December, but some other shady stuff led to the school not even allowing him to enroll or be admitted before they parted ways with him. So even though he signed, Oregon already parted ways with him.

Jesus Christ. Hate to see people just throw their life in the dumpster like this. Was lucky enough to make awful decisions at a young age, do my time, and clear my record. But it was never 8 chargers with attempted murder on the docket.

Sadly stuff like this will only continue to occur, but hopefully it gets better and involves kids less and less

One thing to note is that Michigan may have been the leader at one time for Hill and that there’s even a crystal ball for Hill to Michigan. You also may know Hill from the time he scammed a 14 year old out of $45.

That is a crap-ton of Fulmer Cup points that just went by the wayside for Oregon.  He almost assuredly would have won the Individual Achievement award for the year, and in all likelihood would have single-handedly put Oregon in a sure-fire top three spot for the Cup.

Are you saying that we shouldn't have any laws because people break them? Because that is what you are arguing here.

"Theft is outlawed but people still steal things. For the life of me, I can't imagine how a criminal was able to steal something when the law abiding citizenry can't."

"Because X isn't 100% effective, it is completely worthless."

Article with more details.

Thoughts:

  1. Typically, what's charged has little relationship to what's actually pled to / brought to trial / convicted. It's kind of a "throw shit at the wall" situation.
  2. That said, if the ESPN story is correct, Hill got his gun and did a drive by. That sounds like it's intentional and premeditated to me, so Murder 1 sounds right. But the fact that he missed seems weird; makes me wonder if he intended to miss. If so (not familiar with MD murder law) seems feasible that he dodges a murder rap.
  3. It sucks for him that he did this at 18, not 17. No juvenile record for him, this will likely ruin his life.
