I know it has nothing to do with Michigan, but I would appreciate anyone that comes on over to check it on and leaves some advice for me as I am just starting to blog. http://mdgoblog.blogspot.com/ Thanks

If there aren't any Maryland blogs, your name doesn't have to be that witty or clever, just make sure its descriptive enough to show up on google and for people to recognize it for what its is. One thing I might say, I'm not sure I'm feeling the black background. It's gonna limit some of the things you can do with text, for example on that recruiting post I would've broken that up a bit by putting the recruits' names in bold or a different color, you lose options if you really can only use white. But you can always change it later. You might want to get in contact with some big ACC blogs, if you can work out doing joint previews for football games, etc. it might be a good way to get some readership..

I haven't been writing my own blog for very long, but long enough I guess for me to be a blowhard and hand out advice. This is the Internet, after all :) So here goes: - You need a writing style. It takes a long time for a reader to realize you're a fount of indispensible information. It only takes one post for a reader to decide whether or not they like your style. - You also need absolutely impeccable English. Randomly capitalized words, words that are run together without a space, sentences with too many commas, spelling mistakes - they've all got to go. A good writer makes no mistakes with his English. A really good writer uses mistakes in his English to comic or dramatic effect, because he knows when and when not to use them. I'll be brutally honest here - your post reads like a newspaper article on recruiting written in the style of a forum post. There's precious little info in there that I can't find elsewhere and if I were a Maryland fan of the type to bother caring about basketball recruiting in April, probably didn't already know. And the English is fine for a throwaway forum post, but not if you're trying to have readers that come back time and time again. You should write every post, especially early on, as if everyone reading is reading for the first time and is making their decision whether or not to ever bother with your page based on the post you're writing right now. I've known about the dearth of good Virginia blogs for quite a while - there are precious few. I too figured the UVA blogosphere needed one more, but I didn't start until I felt I could bring something to the table that the others weren't. You need to try and do the same. Not to burst your bubble about the lack of Maryland blogs, but there is one here... http://turtlewaxing.blogspot.com/ ...of which a quick read-through shows a couple holes in your info - notably Braxton Dupree's transfer which you neglected to include in your scholarship count. Lastly, make it obvious what we're looking at. I agree with the poster who said black isn't a great background idea. I see a lot of purple, green, and blue on that page, none of which are Maryland colors. I see no yellow, red, or white, and the only indication that you have a blog for Maryland sports is the big logo at the top. Good luck - I do hope you succeed at this, because you're at least partway right about the lack of Maryland coverage. Turtle Waxing is the only one I know of, and the lack of coverage for Maryland is kind of a hole for the ACC.

I always thought that "Len Biased" would be a great name for a Maryland sports blog. Sadly, lenbiased.blogspot.com is already taken so that the world (or the 20 people who have ever visited the site) can enjoy some rockin' photos. Lame.
