OT: Montoya Turning Career Around

Submitted by Fhshockey112002 on

This may be premature but quietly Al Montoya and the New York Islanders are making a solid run since he was traded there February 9th.  Since then Montoya has gone 7-2-2 including a 4-2 win tonight vs Boston.  Montoya has had an impressive 2.02 GAA and elite .927 save percentage.

I know this is a relatively small sample size (11 games) but for a team trying to make a playoff push, and playing meaningful games almost every night, this is impressive.  I am happy to see a kid have success after being stuck in the AHL for 5 seasons since leaving Michigan.

Islanders or otherwise, would be great to see Al make some noise in the NHL. Tough that he was stuck in the minors for so long, but hopefully good development opportunity for him and he's back now for good...
