OT: From the Illinois bench to the 1st round of the NBA draft
This is the story of the improbable path of Brandin Podziemski, the 19th pick in the recent NBA draft from Santa Clara. He started his career at Illinois and couldn't crack Underwood's rotation.
I'd never heard of the guy prior to the draft. (I don't really follow Big Ten basketball recruiting.)
Underwood seems like a real dick to play for.
He just seems like a real dick.
This guy? Surely you jest.
As does this guy....
Bro Peniswood
Would make a great character in an adult cartoon.
Exactly my thought, that he should be—is?—a cartoon character.
Kobe Bufkin's path isn't the same, obviously, but there's a little of the same magic in a so-so player a year later becoming a lottery pick.
Except Kobe was a 4* coming out of HS and he didn't transfer to a small school due to lack of PT.... other than that exactly the same
Of course, you're right. They are not exactly the same, and if you think you need to correct me, go for it..
But the story reminded me of our recent experience with Kobe's similar progression from unheralded to an impressive NBA draft.
One might even write, "Kobe Bufkin's path isn't the same, obviously, but there's a little of the same magic in a so-so player a year later becoming a lottery pick."
That article gives way too much credit to the small school for identifying Poz and not enough blame to Underwood for letting him go.
Also, why the heck did Juwan not try to get Traore in the portal?
