OT: To Foul or not Oklahoma v Kansas
Thanks for clearing that up.
No one ever claimed either option was foolproof. Fouling is the better of the two options, however.
Not true. I claimed it was foolproof and 100% of all team employing the strategy had won their games since basketball was invented. Imagine my surprise & embarrassment to find out at least ONE team wasnt successful when intentionally fouling.
Who knew?

Funny part is, unless I really missed something that was an awful call on the foul anyways.
"Internally fouling"?? Wouldn't that be ... flagrant?
The bigger strategic point today is at what point in the game should you start fouling MSU if you have a deep bench?
SBNation has the tip itself without the preamble. Cool all the same though.
Well, foul before the guy shoots a 3 is kind of the expectation. Fouling in the act of shooting a 3 should absolutely never be "the plan."
The OP is setting up a false dichotomy. The actual coaching instruction in question is "when up 3, foul before the guy is shooting a 3."
Now of course you can still suffer a tie even if you do it correctly if the guy makes one FT, misses the second and they get a put back.
But it's a pretty stupid comment to say "look at these guys who failed to follow the instruction, what a flawed instruction."
I thought that Izzo was going to have a stroke right there at court side.
The fact that Indiana didn't win after that is amazing.
Who else would you rather have on the line and both free throws looked horredous from Ferrel.
Indiana will probably miss the tournament because of it and it was handed on a silver platter to them.
