Once pure number of fans is taken into account (clearly we have a boatload of alumni, which helps), a major factor is how much disposable income those fans have to pump into their fandom. Not sure if numbers back this up, but I'd expect that Notre Dame, UT and UM alumni and fans tend to do pretty well for themselves, at least relative to OSU fans.

Good snark, WichitanWolverine.  Now my comment will have to be more serious.  It seems like a lot of people in the South see Michigan as "irrlevant."  Not only does this rating debunk the theory of Michigan's "irrelevance," but so does the fact that the Michigan coaching search is a national story and has been one since it started.

Imagine how "relevant" this program is going to be when Jim Harbaugh takes it where it belongs: the top.

It doesn't surprise me with how Dave Brandon ran the program. Charge more and more for tickets, I don't know if concessions increased, and don't give away anything more than you absolutely have to.

There were almost no pro sports in Seattle until the late 70's.  So UW football was about the only game in town.  Then the Don James era happened.

Until Rick Neuweisel left the team a mess 10 years ago, and the Seahawks surged, the Huskies were incredibly popular not only in Seattle but the region.

They fell on hard times and have pinned their hopes to Chis Petersen who has a 100-17 record in 9 seasons between Boise St. and UW.

Anyway, having lived in Seattle for 13 years and witnessing the commitment most die-hard fans and alum have to their football program, I wasn't surprised to see them on this list.

I see you're missing some info.  I'll go ahead and fill it out correctly.

Paying $8 million to the CEO of a $117+ million (seems low considering the impact football has on apparel and licensing) organization is about right.

UM has stayed top 5. The list is suspect though. I know for a fact Ohio State and USC are too low, and Wisconsin, which is missing, is a top 10 revenue team.
