OT: Federer vs. Djokovic

Submitted by goblueram on

French Open semifinals today.  Nadal advanced past Murray in straight sets this morning (no surprise), but the real match just got underway.  As Nadal said, it is the best player in the world right now against the greatest player of all time.  Federer vs. Djokovic.   Djokovic is playing not only for a spot in the final and the number 1 ranking, but to tie McEnroe's undefeated record for a season at 42.  Hopefully, the streak ends today.  Let's go Fed

If I am one break down and serving at 2-5, I definitely try to win the game.   I want to at least lose on the opponents serve so I can start the next set serving.  If he is serving and I am 2-5 down, I would try to rip every shot for a winner, and if it doesn't work out it isn't a big deal.  I still start off the next set serving.

oh absolutely agreed there - definitely force them to serve out the set.  which is what Fed did - won 4 points in a row on big serves.

I think its best to give up in some matches against good ralliers.  Although... i'm just remember coming back from 5-1 down in the second set to win 7-5 against a kid in the state tournament in high school.... I guess it shows how much of a mental game tennis is.  Different against every player.

Also, high school tennis is a bit like women's tennis, where breaks are so insignificant.  Makes it easier to put a string of games together... not that I ever won much in high school

that does happen

but i got an individual state title, a team state title.. and my career record against Pioneer was 13-0.  THAT was the accomplishment I am most proud of

Great win for Federer. For the life of me, I cannot understand how someone can be a fan of Djokovic. He is such a poor sport and lacks a quarter of the class of Roger or Rafa. I decided that I will root against him forever more after his hate-spitting post-match interview at the U.S. upon beating Roddick there--comported himself like a 9-year-old. If any Djoker fans could help me understand how one can support him, I would appreciate it.
