OT: Fantasy Football, Film and TV Weekend

Submitted by chatster on April 24th, 2019 at 7:52 PM

While the NFL Draft starts tomorrow night and runs through Saturday’s selection of “Mr. Irrelevant” and millions of people will begin contemplating their fantasy football rosters for next season, there also will be many millions of people rushing to movie theaters for the opening of Avengers: Endgame in the UK and the early opening in the US tomorrow night.

Then, after three days of spoiler alerts and fan reviews about the penultimate installment of this third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s films in what they've called The Infinity Saga and arguments about your team’s draft selections and possible trades, on Sunday night, HBO’s Game of Thrones will feature the epic Battle of Winterfell.

But, as we all know, the most important media event this weekend is the release of Paradox Interactive's "Imperator: Rome".  Good thing I'm unemployed.

I am actually taking the afternoon off on Friday to see an earlier showing of Endgame. Yes, we're getting the kids out early on Friday too as a treat, because this stuff is important. Well, it is important in our minds. What that says about our minds, I am not at all certain....

I know my kids are going to see End Game. I’ll check in the Lions picks Sun while on the golf course and laugh at how bad they did.  Then watch GoT.

Every spring, during the first week-ish of the NBA Playoffs, I get my annual reminder that college basketball (a sport I really, really enjoy) is complete ass.

You've inspired me. I'm not against any of your suggestions but I've been waiting for the right weekend to go on an electronic media fast and I don't know why but I think this is the weekend. I have a brisket to smoke, a treehouse to build, unfortunately, a funeral to attend, but also church, 2 soccer games, books to read and other projects I'd love to get to.

My son just got Madden 19 so I doubt I can avoid screens in the house altogether, but I desperately need to unplug for a while.

I have my tickets for Sunday afternoon's showing of Endgame, and actually just jumped on the GoT bandwagon a week ago tonight, so I'm halfway through the 2nd season and have A LOT of content to catch up on.
