OT- Detroit Youth Maker Faire tomorrow
Hello MGoBloggers,
A few of us, fellow Michigan athletics junkies, are now MBA students starting our first year at Michigan, and this week we have a big project designed to help businesses in Detroit's Brightmoor neighborhood develop positive business models in their community. Each of our sections will be showcasing our business ideas tomorrow (Thursday) at Eastern Market from 11:30AM to 2:00PM. If you're in the Metro Detroit area and can swing by on your lunch hour, it would mean a lot to us (and Section 5 in particular). Stop by and say hi, I'll be the guy wearing the Bo/Harbaugh skinny M hat.
You can RSVP by clicking here or email me at mgoross2017 @ gmail. More info here as well.
Go Blue!
Mods feel free to delete if this is too far from the beaten path.

This is much needed in this neighborhood. Glad to hear the MBAs are putting effort toward restoring it.

As I mentioned below, there will be a cleanup beginning this afternoon, but this one will probably stay since it highlights the University doing some good in the community. Brightmoor took it on the chin more than most neighborhoods in Detroit due to the decline of the auto industry in the 1970s as well as other factors (the neighborhood was built specifically to attract Southern migrants to the then-booming auto industry in the 1920s). It is nice to see groups like Brightmoor Alliance and others try to bring it back.

Thanks LSA (and hopefully will meet you at Rackham/Ashley's next week?)
We're just trying to get as many RSVPs and people to show up as possible, and the MGoBlog community has always been particularly friendly and helpful in the past, so I appreciate if we get ANYONE to show up through this. I realize it's probably a little spammy to some people and I apologize for that, but this is actually a pretty cool project, one which all levels of the business school (EMBA, part-time, global, etc.) have been working on all year.

As a native of Detroit, its great to hear about people from the University of Michigan getting involved with the community, especially Brightmoor.
I'll definitely come and check it out.

Snark aside, I think what you're doing is great. If there was a little more notice I might have been able to attend.

No offense taken, I would be disappointed if you didn't have any snark. You have a rep to maintain as the semi-addled, possibly over-medicated crazy uncle on the board.
We just found out about it this week so we have been trying to nail everything down last couple days, just getting around to spreading word now.
For any Michigan students, pretty sure we're doing a happy hour as well somewhere back here and working out transport down there if you need a ride.

...but enough with that Section 5 garbage. Section 6 for life!
