OT: Austin Selected for X-Games
Detroit lost the bid. I was pretty hopeful but I can't say I'm too shocked.

Also announced was the X-Games newest event, "extreme heatstroke."
These type of events help show the world Detroit can be a pretty nice city at times. It would have brought in some nice change($) too.
I noticed it was pretty lopsided for Detroit, but not surprised they'd pick Austin.
Austin>Detroit, so I can't say I am shocked
Before opening this thread, I thought this was going to be about Austin Hatch competing in the X-games.
You kiddin' me?
Screw ESPN. The Detroit X games committee should partner up with Fox Sports and televise the events on Fox Sports 1 to send a message to ESPN to not ignore their fans (like they already do with college football).
Awesome, Austin is a perfect venue for this. It really does fit the culture well. May can be hot, but not like summer hot. For those that don't know, The four seasons of Austin are: "The nice time" end of Oct through April, "Warming up" May through early June, "Africa Hot" mid June through early Oct, and "is summer finally over?" middle two weeks of Oct.
Not surprised, but still a bit bummed. But considering that they also passed over Charlotte and Chicago, this feels like a decision that was made well before polls were put up. I know that Austin isn't unbearable in May, but here in NYC it can get pretty hot around that time and I can't imagine that Austin is immune from sudden heat waves.
