OSU #2, MSU #9

Submitted by massblue on

It seems that OSU will play in the championship game should they win. MSU could go to Rose Bowl. We are off to Gator.

If tOSU to MNC is inevitable then I'd like to see this...

tOSU gets stomped by FSU in Notre Dame-esqe fashion and/or Sparty goes to Rose and becomes prison boyfriend for Stanford.  I don't know who is next for Rose if B10 champion goes to MNC game and I am not going to look it up since it does not have any bearing on the team I root for.  I am assuming that it's the B10 runner-up.

We don't have the luxury to hope conference members get stuffed in bowls. I root for every Big Ten Team in every game. I'm a homer but out of conference I'm a Badger, Wolverine, corn husker - whatever. Especially against the SEC.....

A conference game or two has little impact on National Championship goals. Illinois destroyed UM twice in 1989 during the regular season before we beat them in the semis with Sean Higgins put back at the buzzer. Conference tournaments are just money makers with little meaning.  Football is basically ruin your conference opponents season with a win - every man for himself.

Sparty is drunk uncle but Ohio is Kim Jung il and Hitler combined. Screw them and that co-ed groping Meyer. I'd also be fine to see the classless Hall and Co. humiliated with their crappy defense and jail sexed by another FLorida team in a MNC game... Sparty's loss to ND is inexplicable but the rest of their body of work and eye test would indicate that they would be the best B1G representative on and off the field... Conference respect will only come when the B1G beats good SEC teams. The Iowa (Missouri), Wisky (S. Carolina/Auburn), Minnesota/Minnesota (Georgia) matchups are very bad and likely blow out losses to SEC teams. I'm sure that Pelini will represent the B1G well too (can't even type that without laughing)... Anyone with eyes can see the SEC, while down a bit this year, is still head and shoulders above the B1G.

Who was that guy who argued so strongly for his #3 ranked team to jump the #2 ranked team in 2006? I think his argument was that the SEC was a stronger conference than the Big Ten. Oh yeah, that was Urban Meyer! A precedent has been set. I guess we will have to live with it.

While both teams have had a strong run of late, MSU is much more likely to regress next year with much of the defense turning over and Narduzzi a hot head coaching commodity. Even if they get a one year bump in recruiting (and this year the only remaing battle is Malik McDowell), it won't last once they post a few 5 loss seasons. They are probably destined for the Rose this year regardless of the outcome against OSU, so no harm in them wining the B1G along the way. OSU replaces 4/5 of their o-line next year, and the depth at o-line is not at usual OSU levels. Their season next year will be a good comparison to ours this year regarding developing the line. That said, they will remain dangerous on the field and in recruiting, so keeping them from the title game is more important for our continued climb.

...But only see Spartans at the drive through, I will have a much better holiday season if MSU wins. :) #michiganarroganceevenindefeat
