Offensive Analyist Steve Casula Hired as UMass OC
Him and Brown overlapped here at Michigan when Brown was DC, hence a connection. Casula was OC for Ferris State on their run to the DII national title game in 2018.

Josh Gattis gave Casula a great deal of credit for M's offensive success this year in his Broyles Award acceptance speech. Casula will remain on staff through the playoff.
Best of luck to Coach Casula at his new job.

Congrats to Casula. He'll probably land a Power 5 OC gig soon.

Excuse the typo in the title.

Congrats and good luck with coach Brown. Hope they do well.

Glad he is staying on for the playoff and hopefully he blossoms into a guy we can have again in the future!

Good. Get him some experience, might need him back when Gattis gets his HC gig in the next couple years.

Analyist sounds painful.

Usually I gotta pay extra for that

You would know Cotton

Given his terrible record following a straight-up loss, predicting now that Frames will lose to UMass on 11/11/23

That sure looks like a “start really fast, major speed bumps in the middle, finish strong” schedule if ever one was put together. They could go 5-0, 0-4, 3-0 without much problem. I like slotting in after games against OSU and Iowa.

They lost to Illinois at home this year, so that's not a gimme. But yeah, should be interesting if Franklin survives this year.

Any chance he won't survive this year? His buyout is the full amount of the contract.

I don't see how they fire Franklin next year unless somebody is sitting on a video of him kicking a kicker, though. Not with the new contract, anyway.

Wow, that schedule sucks for pretty much everyone involved.
December 18th, 2021 at 2:40 PM ^
Since I'm old enough to remember the talking heads telling us how they were going to take over the Big 10 when they joined all I can do is look at the middle of that schedule, smile, and say 'welcome aboard'.

haha. i had a penn st fan telling me the same thing circa 1991.

I'm afraid this is just the beginning. The price (or reward - depending on your point of view) of a staff doing such a great and visible job is lots of promotional opportunities And when an upper-level guy goes he inevitably brings people with him. I just hope we can see at least another year from a mostly intact staff. The systems are still not fully installed.

Analysts come and go pretty much every year. It is meant to be a short stop between on field coaching jobs. I'm just glad to see our analysts getting good jobs when they leave.
December 18th, 2021 at 5:46 PM ^
Exactly, it makes our positions that much more enticing to potential candidates. I mean, Bama and Georgia are out here hiring former P5 head coaches as analysts. Why? Because those staffs get raided for jobs all the time.

This is an excellent OP. It doesn’t have notably elegant prose or insight, but it provides a lot of important facts in a readily accessible format, with links, and details that help flesh out what happened, why it matters, and how it affects the Michigan fan reading.
I’m not being sarcastic; this is genuinely well-posted. Easy to take stuff like this for granted.

He’ll get some OC experience and maybe come back when Gattis gets a HC gig. ??
