The rookie scale for the 8th overall pick comes out to a decent amount of money indeed, if you look at Basketball.RealGM.com. According to them, the 8th pick on this coming season's scale would except to get:

1st year - $2,288,200

2nd year - $2,391,200

3rd year (option) - $2,494,200

I am not sure what it might be subject to, but it sounds like a nice start monetarily in the NBA.

I'm not a big NBA fan, but I might start watching more of it to follow the careers of our Beilein desciples. I have a sense of pride around our basketball team - players, former players and coaches - that used to be what I felt for football. I think we will get that back in football, but it is certainly nice to still be basking in Michigan basketball in July.

Sports is funny.

Buy something cool for you and something nice for your parents, and invest wisely. Or just be normal and blow it on bling, cars, and houses like everyone else in the NBA.

but smart vibes from this kid. I suspect he will be 100% fine on the money front.

I'm just super rooting for him, GRIII, and McGary this year. I really hope these guys can stick and have good careers. It's not that I doubt Stauskas, but let's say that I will be very happy to see him able to handle himself defensively in the league.

Just watched the Kings War Room draft video again. They are very happy to have Nik, which is really good. Sounds like he was their first choice; the won't ever have the "should have drafted ___" regrets. Man I hope he plays a long time!

Best of luck and Go Blue!
