Except that’s how the Pats got caught the 1st time. This time around they’re in the press box LOL.

I’m not a Pats hater by any means and actually respect Belichick tremendously as a coach and think he gets a bad rep from his press conference demeanor. In reality dude is really chill.

But this looks pretty suspect man.

Why? He’s proven nothing at the professional level, and his recruiting acumen doesn’t mean shit in the league. He has to actually coach, which he can do, but coaching college kids and full time multi-millionaire professionals are two very different things.

My point is that a lot of the advantages he enjoyed in college are going to go bye bye if he goes to the league. Maybe he flourishes and becomes a big coaching star in the league. I’d say it’s more likely though that he’d tank. Very few college coaches successfully transition to the league.

He seems like one of the few guys who are smart enough to adapt their approach. His Xs and Os acumen is obviously through the roof regardless of level of football.

Both teams have former Buckeyes who are de facto leaders/playmakers on their respective teams so the transition would be much easier for him relatively.

The owners/GMs are probably his biggest stumbling block like with Harbaugh at the Niners.

TB is only a couple of TD passes from taking the #1 all time from Peyton Manning.  Drew Brees is nipping at his heels. Brady is off again today, throwing high.  His arm strength is not a question, but his accuracy is.  He is said to have an elbow injury and perhaps he is compensating for that with his throwing motion.

OK, I am out of town and the Lions are not on TV here.  So, I check the 1Q stats and the Bucs have 220-some yds in passing, 2 TD's and the Lions have +1 yd net offense.  That's my Lions!

question re: NFL players and 2nd stringers.

it seems like there are many times when you see a good time to put in a back up, just like in college.  maybe the game is out of hand, maybe you just want to keep a guy fresh and get him some reps, whatever.  that said, it literally never happens.  it occurs to me there must be some type of official NFL policy that you have to publish your line-ups and the 1st stingers have to play unless hurt.   does anyone know if that is right?

and yeah, the lions are so bad.  i predicted 3-13 this year during preseason.  they can't even do that right, as they are going to go 3-12-1.  so bad.  so lions.

NFL games are usually closer than college, which probably keeps the backup out of the game. If you look at this week's games, there weren't a lot of blowouts.

One of the games which was a blowout was the Ravens over the Jets; Robert Griffin did get in for at least one series.

Announcers have a tall order in selling lions v bucs, but painting TB in such a positive light and ignoring the reality of a historically awful lions defense coupled with a third string QB and RB is kind of annoying.

Better hope one of DPJ or Nico return or our offense is going to look like the Eagles’ with all the new pieces. Yeesh talk about limping through Ws.

Next week decides the division let’s go birds!

Wow, Bears TE pulled a Tyler Ecker (not pitching the ball to Breaston) and didn't pitch the ball on the final broken play.

What's with TE's not pitching the ball to open WR's and instead trying to bull rush 3 defenders from the 10 yard line on desperation last plays?

I feel bad for the Browns that they had such immense hype coming into the season only to fall apart.  Last year's ending run was always a bit of a mirage, but I figured they'd be better than they've looked.

At the same time, Mayfield seems like an asshole and all his shit talking to start the year not really panning out is refreshing in the "karma still works sometimes" way.

The fact that there are still Lions fans in the seats at the games is a mystery to me.  Who on earth pays money to see that?

They are enabling this shit franchise to continue in its destructive ways.

Lions should sign Kapernick immediately and not worry about who it offends.  Do they want to win any games?  Stafford is getting older, and has back issues, for every Brady there are dozens of pro QBs that retire. Also, they should draft the DE Buckeye, a position of need, not that they don't have all sorts of postions of need... but holy crap, and... bring back Caldwell.
