New Message Being Spread

Submitted by TomVH on
I could be wrong here, but I have noticed a consistent message with the coaches, players, and recent commits. Whenever someone commits they send a message of, "Welcome to the family." It's usually in those exact words, but I've seen this pop up a lot lately all over the place. To me this is awesome, from a couple different angles. The players are bought in, and treating each other like family. That message is being projected out to anyone that wants to join the family as well. It's one thing coming from the coaches, but when the players say those words to a commit, it hits home. Just thought I would share an observation.

I love that. It does seem like that is something that is prevelant through what the recruits who just come and visit say. That UofM have fostered a family atmosphere. I keep hearing Sam Montgomery's words. If this is true TomVH it can't do anything but help with recruiting and the overall image of the program.

Agreed. I think Rodriguez and the staff want it to be like this, and ultimately it's not only going to make them a better team, but better men on and off the field. It's a really good sign, there is a lot of positivity coming out of the program since every journalist tries to rip on it.

I recall several kids during Jan (specifically, the Jan 9th weekend when it snowed) who came back from their visits and echoed that same "family" message. We'll see how well it works for future prospects - but it's a message that should resonate with these kids and certainly can't hurt. A very good recruiting strategy by RR considering all the bad press he's had to deal with the last year.

I was going to mention how this is a great development and how it totally invalidates the Human Twinkie's pathetic "lack of family values" rant, but I was beaten to it: sorta..... Sadly, I think the Twinkie's definition of "family values" is "anything that benefits the Boren family, regardless of its effect on anyone else." I can't wait to see him unveil his new identity as the Human Turnstile against UM. And he won't even have to change the "HT" monogram on his Human Twinkie towels and hankies, either.

Incidentally, that's also what they say when you get "made" in a mafia family. Tom, can you get Tate on record saying "as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster..."?

Doesn't surprise me. That's the same atmosphere that he instilled at WVU. I lived in the area during almost all of his WVU tenure and I remember quite a bit of press about the closeness and family atmosphere of his teams there.
