NCAA Hockey Tournament Why Does it have to be 1 game?

Submitted by WingsNWolverines on

I personally feel the NCAA wants to get this tournament done and over with every year. It's obvious to them the NCAA Basketball tourney is the most important but why does it have to be 1 game elimination? Seriously! The CCHA playoffs are a best out of 3 game series and it works out perfectly! Why can't the NCAA make the same format for college hockey? It would actually most likely bring in more money during the tournament. I'm sick of this "one and done" crap with hockey. I wish like hell they would make it like a World Cup format.

msu managed to win one because they played out of their minds in 2007; I wish we could do that when tourney time comes, but we can't get over the hump for some reason.

Single game is much more exciting. Why not make March Madness 3 games? It would taker all of the excitement away. We lost, and you are pissed. If we won last night you would say that the one game format its the shit. The same goes for football. Can you imagine if there was no debate over bowl games and it was a straight playoff. We are still debating the Nebraska and Michigan titles. P.S. Michigan had an Alabama pro defense at the time. The debate is truly a joke.

I like the NCAA Hockey tournament because it does a good job of providing exciting hockey, with every game deciding your fate.  If the goal of the tournament is to crown the best team in college hockey, however, it definitely falls short.
