For those interested, Amine's sole loss came to David Taylor of the U.S., who took gold.

That's correct. David Taylor has been outstanding since he was in Jr High. As for Amine he becomes the first Olympic medalist from University of Michigan.
First this year, I think you meant? Michigan has to have had someone win a medal or three in years past, right?

He would have gotten global headlines if he had done it 6 days earlier as I saw one of the shooters made international headlines getting the first in history San Marino medal as it officially made San Marino the new, smallest country ever to medal at the olympics
Damn. How many medals has San Marino won? My guess would be zero
Edit: apparently it's 3 total now but all 3 have been won this olympics
A GREAT accomplishment - Go Blue!

I read that with his bronze medal, San Marino now has the highest # of medals per capita of any country ever (modern olympics obviously). Meaningless stat I guess unless you're from San Marino

Myles isn't from San Marino either. He was born and raised in Brighton and went to high school at Detroit Catholic Central. He's an American and only wrestled for San Marino so he could be an Olympian. Great call on his part! The American, David Taylor, won gold at the same weight as Myles (and beat Myles 12-2 in the second round of the Olympics). So we really had two Americans win medals at the same weight.
