Michigan Stadium seating question
I am looking to take my kids to their first Michigan football game this fall. We went to the NCAA Tournament game against CSU and they loved it! Football tickets are obviously more expensive, so we’ll be going to one of the non-conference games, and looking for the cheapest tickets available. The corner sections (7,8,16,17,29,30,38,39,) are sort of “cut out” and don’t go all the way to the field. So my question is, is row 56 in these sections truly row 56, or is it more like row 90-something? TIA
They're aligned around the stadium. So row 56 is the same everywhere
Great, thanks!
And I would add that row 56 is plenty close for a first time/ feels like a good viewing experience.
I sat row 5 on the 50 for the 100th Game and liked row 26 way better.
I think 20-40 is the sweet spot (especially when you're sitting around corners or ends). It's close to the field, but is also high enough that you can see on the opposite side of the stadium fairly easily. But really no bad seat in the big house.
On the east side of the field row 56 is the row right behind the handicap seating. It is right where you enter but may not be the best view for small kids.
If you have kids. Sit around row 70 in the corner and near an exit. You will be taking them to the bathroom and concessions. It’s a lot of stairs to climb if you are too low in the bowl. Also you don’t want to be that guy constantly having to climb over everyone when your kid wants a pretzel. The corner sections also tend to stand less. Kids can’t see if you’re at the 50 yard line and everyone’s always standing. End zone is ok too for that. And the tickets won’t cost as much.
I apologize in advance. To me there's no bad seat in the BIG HOUSE... Thee experience outweighs, everything else. AS ALWAYS, GO BLUE!!!
Sorry, I missed that. Can you repeat it?
Only once!

You might look for Row 51 (ie just in front of the Handicap Deck in most sections), this way your kids can stand on the seat and you get a nice backrest.
The rows are the same throughout the sections, so Row 56 is Row 56 everywhere. You should get a decent view from that row in the corners too. I like the 30-40 range myself when it comes to the rows in the stadium, but in and near the corners, slightly higher might be better.
I'd do a September game and make sure its warm, mifd level seating for accesability to go get food , now too low for sightlines.
do not take them to a cold and wet rainy damp game
I am taking my boys to their first game, and we are sitting in Section 8 row 64 for the home opener, I can't wait! Go Blue!
Like others have mentioned, no bad seats, and for kids, a little bit higher seems to be the way to go.
not that it matters for this question - but row 56 is actually row 58. there is Row A and row B before row 1.
My two cents having take all my 3 to games at Michigan Stadium - sit just above or below where the tunnels for each section come into the stadium. There are two sets on the east side and one set on the end zones and west side. IMHO kids get antsy when they want to leave and having the shortest area up or down to the exit tunnel is key.
I have taken my kids several times, and my only recommendations are:
- Bring/buy some snacks
- Bring a device that you can play some stuff. Their attention span will likely not get you through the entire game
- Try to find seats close to exits so you can get to a bathroom quickly
- Use halftime to break the monotony of sitting, so go out and walk around at half
Update: We bought tickets for the opener, north end zone, row 44, right on the aisle. Thank you for all the advice! Go blue!
No such thing as a bad seat at the Big House, they all just offer different experiences. Most notable in which row you sit in, not necessarily the section (maybe except end zones).
