I felt like Hope choked that game away. Once Purdue got up 22-14, he just started running the ball up the middle and trying to kill clock--even with half the 4th quarter left. One or two first downs probably would have been enough to win, but Hope never even gave his offense a chance.

Michigan is #20, the Tigers are in the World Series, the sun is shining and the streak is over. What a beautiful day. Makes me not even mad I have to go to work tomorrow.

Polls are meaningless to M right now. Just take care of business and we're in the Rose Bowl. Couldn't possibly ask for more than that. In fact, we can probably afford one more regular-season loss (although ideally not to Nebraska) and still get there.

be easy for us.

We can afford one, but it can't be to Nebraska.

I take it because of their post-season ban, the Coaches Poll doesn't include teams like Ohio State and Penn State?

correct, sir.

Polls don't mean anything. Hopefully we can take care of business in Lincoln next week. If we can, I'd say the path to Indy is pretty nicely laid out for us.

BTW, did anyone notice that ESPN did not list us (ether online or on its ticker) as a top 25 team in its score updates yesterday, even though we were #25 in the ESPN Coaches' Poll? That was annoying.

I'm pretty sure they listed teams in accordance with the BCS standings.

I was wondering about this as I watched ESPN after returning from the game, but what you said is exactly it. Of the 42 teams involved in the "Top 25" games on ESPN, exactly 25 of them are in the most recent Top 25 of the BCS rankings. Indeed, four of the 21 games were BCS teams playing one another.

so our games are displayed at the top of the ESPN page.
Other than that, it doesn't matter much.
