MGo Fantasy Baseball 2011 **Updated Yahoo League

Submitted by Calvin on

With spring training games underway, baseball is clearly in the air. I participated last year in a user created MGoLeague and I thought it was a lot of fun. I was wondering if people were interested again this year and if perhaps certain individuals would like to talk about said league and try optimize league rules to best suit everyones enjoyment. Hell, a dynasty league could even be set up. So this is just to gauge general interest, I believe it was Blueokie that took the initiative last year and did a damn fine job. Thank you for that.

** I went ahead and created a Yahoo league Head to Head. With a few suggestions I went with simple stats and simple lineups. One suggestions was for divisions with 20 teams total. I Decided to give it a shot and just create the league. Join if interested. Sorry for those that were interested in roto or ESPN. Draft time is negotiable, as are a few rules. I figure we can hash that out once people have joined. If we can't get 20 we'll simple reduce the number of teams.

On second thought I've reduced it to two divisions with 14 teams. If we have increased enthusiasm maybe we'll bump it up. But managers more experienced than I, make some good points about having so many people.

Any comments on rules or scoring? Standard scoring ? Yahoo has a few different types of Head to Head leagues this year. I prefer Head to Head, I don't know about anyone else.

Head to Head One Win style - You don't receive a weekly win vs loss total in categories. Instead you either win or lose.

Head to Head Point Style - Which I think is just winning each week based off of stats that garner points. I actually didn't read that closely.

Head to Head Ole Fashioned - Theres nothing better than a good Ole Fashion.

Also any comment on number of teams?

Host it on Espn and use Rotisserie.  Ive never liked H2H, but I also see an option for Total Season Points.  That could be another option.  We may have enough for a couple leages.

I would play, but just wondering, I have no idea if this is possible, but have two "leagues of like 10 teams" and have the winner of each league play for the championship.

20 managers would be too many.  You could have someone start two diferent leagues, an AL only and an NL only league. Have them finish a week early and the comish from each league keep score on the side of the two champs to determine a World Series Champ.

I can renew that league.  There might be a few open spots, we had some people sign up but then they never kept up with it last year.  So if you're serious please stay up with it and don't sign up just to sign up.  I'm gonna knock it down to 12 teams, 14 was too much.  I'd like to keep that league going on as long as possible.  It's Yahoo standard 5x5 head-to-head and will be an online live draft.  I'll give the previous mangers some time to resign up then I can post the league ID and password when there are some open spots.

I think there was a couple other leagues last year too.  If somebody wants to start up another it's pretty easy on Yahoo and ESPN.

Thanks I got the invite, but it said I couldn't join because of quote "There is not room in this league if all teams from last year return. To join, get the commissioner to increase the maximum number of teams, or remove teams that will not be returning. (Error #638)"

I guess it won't let me change the number of teams.  It's also not letting me change any settings right now.  I'll try to delete it and start over.

*edit: I deleted it and just created a new one, I guess it's first come first serve again. League ID:113424 Password:mgoblog.  I'm gonna send out invites to the guys from last year to try to keep it close from last season.

Only 5 spots left, anyone is welcomed to join.  If you are not going to be serious about it and not keep up with your team then please do not join.  We had one manager sign up and never logged back in and a couple others that quit after a few weeks.
