Meta: substitute Android app until "real" one ready

Submitted by WFBlue on

For Android users that want to view Mgoblog content on their Android phones, but are not a fan of using their phone browser (it can be a bummer), there is an app called "Pulse" (available in the Android market). It is a news reader, but seems to work very well for viewing information from this site and displays each "story" into a mosaic tile.

The main feed is displayed very cleanly and is properly sized (at least for my DroidX);  the Board displays only the first posting, then a link to the website.   Though clearly not perfect (some of the board content is not displayed chronologically), users might find it useful until the "real" Android app is developed and released by the MGO-Gods.

  1. Download Pulse from android market.
  2. When open, go into menu and search for "Mgoblog"; various mgo sources will come up, including TomVH's twitter feed.
  3. Add sources by pressing plus icon.
  4. Can be used as an App or on homescreen(s) as a widget.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm trying it out. The UI is beautiful, but I'm not sure if I can get past the mgoboard feed error. Maybe it'll get fixed in the future.

For those complaining about browsing mgoblog on their droids, try it on a BB Storm2. I can't wait for the Thunderbolt to come out as I will be upgrading to it. Living in a 4G market sure doesn't hurt.

Don't get me started on the 4G markets.  I have been paying the extra $10 for the EVO for months now and cant even utilize the 4G network.  They keep telling me they don't know when it will be in this market area!  I could do everything I am doing now on my old Blackberry and would have saved $10 bucks a month.

I personally don't need an app, though I'd definitely use one if it existed.  I have zero problems with my browser.  But maybe that's because I don't use the basic Android browser.  Download the Dolphin HD browser.  It works great.

Oh, and I'm using the Droid X, if that helps.

I've been downloading various free apps but can't watch or hear simple videos taken in avi format taken with my camera.  I've read you have to convert it but seems like an unnecessary hassle when it is easily viewable in wmp, quicktime etc.
