Using Universal Analytics is very Lloyd Carr. Start using GA4
We're gonna, just haven't gotten it set up yet.
Not to worry they will do it for you here in a couple months.
There are limits to what you can do automatically. That approach risks data discontinuities
YMMV. [Your Mileage May Vary]
Or at least MMDV.
I have found that the site loads slow on my iPhone using Chrome unless I’m in incognito mode.
Slow is an understatement. It’s prohibitive for me sometimes.
Agree. Sometimes it takes over a minute.
I assume this is sarcasm. But I’ve got two kids under 3 so a minute of my personal time is a whole lot lol.
Ditto, incognito-koolaid presently
I've let the devs know.
I wonder if the 3rd party advertising cookies are at issue. Incognito mode would limit the number of external API calls and you would expect legacy browsers like Firefox to be less up to date on those than Safari and Chrome
FYI: I can't open on iPhone using Safari.
I had the same issue for the last several days, but today it suddenly began working fine.
It usually loads for me (using Safari on iPhone), but it is incredibly slow to navigate to the first page (to the point that I often open it and come back later). It seems to navigate much faster to subsequent pages once I’ve already accessed the front page, for some reason.
It loads fast for me using Firefox 102.0. It could be a new Firefox bug, or a fixed Firefox bug.
2 main takeaways from that data for me.
1. Wow has Firefox's market share collapsed from its peak. Around 1% now. They just never had a mobile presence.
2. Thank you for making the web based app, but it appears that nobody is using it. 0.1% of views are via containerized app if I'm reading that correctly.
Yeah but:
- 2,000+ users is nothing to scoff at.
- Those 2,000+ users include a much greater share of our core, core community members, and this site has always been about putting the core readership first.
- The container apps are both 2x as fast as the rest despite carrying a higher load because most of their users are logged in.
In general most users of our site are not commenters, so I wouldn't expect them to be using the container app as much.
Zero Firefox issues here: Android tablet, Android phone(s), or Windows 10 desktops.
Edit/add: also zero Firefox issues on a Windows 11 laptop. Full disclosure? We reject almost all cookies and clear the browser cache completely on every exit.
I get the same problem on chrome, but only from an iphone. Chrome on Android works fine. I can't explain it.
Off topic, but it's nice to see the contrast in users between Chrome and Edge. I hate Edge. I don't mind Safari. Thanks for the informative chart.
