Men's Lacrosse falls to Ohio State

Submitted by twotrueblue on

Michigan fell to Ohio State, 8-5, at Ohio Stadium tonight. The turnover bug really bit Michigan today, committing 13 turnovers. After dominating the first half at the faceoff x, Michigan couldn't seem to buy a faceoff win in the second half once Ohio State switched faceoff guys.

Michigan now falls to 7-5 on the year and 0-3 in Big Ten play and will fall out of the polls after a three week stint, the longest in program history. A game in Ann Arbor against Johns Hopkins is on tap for next Saturday. The season finale will be the following Saturday at Penn State. The Big Ten tournament in Ann Arbor is not much more than a dream at this point.

For those who want to watch some more lacrosse tomorrow:

Not someone that really hates the jump man, but something great about seeing the swoosh on our jerseys. Makes me even happier to see how far this program has come.

this team is looking 0 fer in the league for the second straight year.  Nice facility but the program is garbage right now.   Facts are facts.

It’s not that the program is garbage, it’s more that they play in arguable the toughest conference in the sport. For a program to make the transition from club to varsity in a conference like this is tough enough as is, holding onto a club level coach for so long didn’t help matters. But Michigan is starting to get some talent and they have a first year head coach who is pretty impressive. But it’s going to take time to build a winner when the conference features 4 of the 6 teams in the top 15 and Ohio State which has been very good in recent years.

You didn't even watch the game. Also, we've beaten them wayyyyyy more than they've beaten us across all sports this year. Go watch football reruns.

Still the B1G JV squad. It’ll take a little while for coaching to take hold. There is some individual talent, and a lot of athleticism, but as a team they lack discipline. So lots of turnovers and poor off-ball defense. But they are nowhere near as skilled as they need to be to succeed at the highest levels. Ball handling needs improvement, and the long sticks need to be better off the carpet.
