Media implications if the 12th team was ND...

Since ESPN has snapped up the SEC, I could see Comcast making overtures to buy the BTN from News Corp. You'd have a pretty powerful platform for the Big Ten (er, 12) right there; NBC and the BTN to do battle with ABC and ESPN.

I am in favor of whatever alignment causes fewer Michigan games to be televised on BTN. It's not bad if games such as Delaware St. are televised there, but it really cheapens the product when the Michigan-Michigan State is on BTN.

I would anticipate a significant increase in the amount invested in production if they did in fact buy the BTN. Much, much better than what you see now.

Could you imagine the upheaval in South Bend if ComCast exclusively picked up the Big Ten, denied the Irish TV extension deal, and then moved the Big Ten coverage to NBC in its place????? They'd be cursing in the grotto. Gasp!
